Yup. Tranny too.
Here's some general maintenance tips in case you're interested: http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,339.0.html
Packed and ready for the Quail.....
Thanks Duck! I joined that forum yesterday or the day before.
I will go out on a limb and ask, are you the Frankenduck over there?
Hopefully, I'm not outing you in some way...
I just topped up the tranny (it was a bit low) and added a bit of lube to the final drive last night. Just to make sure the fill plugs came out and I wasn't going to find any unpleasantness in either, the final drive was a bit low and kind of "shiney" but nothing too bad. I'm hoping to tear into the splines this weekend, maybe. I have my trusty tube of Honda 60! I'm actually looking forward to it.
I sync'd my throttle bodies last night, holy shit that was easy-peasy (compared to syncing the carbs on my CB...). Literally 5 minutes.
I hope you strapped the front down twice, and at least once on each side in the rear!:eek1
I hope Larry did too.:huh
Sheesh, somebody needs to put some miles on that sucka!
I'm noticing the handle bars on your bike. These don't look like standard "C" or touring bars from here. Are they? If not please let me know.
I was at Larry's checking out the bike last fall, IIRC they're aftermarket Flanders bars.
Thanks, I like the wider width, I'll make a note of that for my Dad's 88K75c.
I also like your work and data on the K-bikes , including the gear changes that work good on the K75. This may also be future addition.
Larry noted on his test ride huge comfort factor with the touring bars but a reduction in responsiveness. Guess I'll have to pay close attention when I'm at the track draggin it into a corner. SURE.....
Anyone have experience converting 7/8" C bars to 1 1/8" fat bars (Protaper, Renthal, etc.) ?
The clutch and throttle perches won't fit.
BMW bars are 22mm, not 7/8". The difference is slight but there is a difference.
More to follow....just exhausted from the travel.........Gorgeous K with a crazy number of upgrades and modern touches.....
One you get the ammo can panniers mounted you'll be ready to go.
Just beautiful sir. Congrats.
Thank you....After chatting with Larry a couple week ago, I decided not to do the saddlebag and rear rack modification. While the looks and function would have been incredible, I just felt I would not take advantage of the cases. Not to forget the amount of work Larry would have put into it would have made me feel guilty. I can see the efforts taken so far and just have to say....good enough. So no bags...she's gonna be a local bike for around town. A good backpack or tail bag should do the trick.
Bye the way, Haven't gone through the inventory yet, but boy, do I have some really nice stuff that didn't make it on the build. Will inventory and let everyone know....:eek1
Congrats on finally taking possession. Yeehaw!
I'll meet you at the track on Saturday.
