    buongiorno amigos
    .
    AB212ASW............grazie per le gentili commenti
    .
been off grid awhiles.............but got a bit of a burst on the panigale yesterday and it brought such a joy, a vibrancy, an adrenaliny kinda feelin that my mood soared as she ducked and dived into turns and twists as the cold cold air blasted all abouts.............................whoooooooooooooooosh man i feel seventeen again............
    .
    .
march here and the winter slowly recedes behind us, blood flows into parts dormant and daffodils are doing their 'thang'
    .
    .
better get back to the bit of a trip - looongwinded indeed
    .
    K
    .
as you know, i started from here.............
    .
    .
    .
and ended up here at the Ducati Hospital, where all Ducati's are born (this has changed recently since the scramblers arrived) ......
    .
    .
    .
the little beauty above was the 'start' of the motorcycle dynasty, up to this Ducati made stuff for offices !

this is the 'cucciolo' ((a clip on engine for motorized bicycles !) and it sold and sold and sold and the lights shone from the sky, a new dawn had arrived.
    .
    .
up to this revelation mostly this kinda thing was built and sold...
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
the first 'cuciolo's' were built during WWII and became an instant hit after the war as humanity enmasse embraced mobility on a grand scale !
    .
one 'good' ?! thing was that the german bombing raids had flattened the factories in and around Bologna and there was a vast site suddenly available in Borgo Panigale, perfect for a new modernist factory/assembly line, the district where Ducati stands to this very day.
    .
    .
as the 1950's aproached they had to come up with a more powerful engine and i think this one, the M55 cuciolo kicked off a whole new departure...
    .
    .
    .
    .
i feel that this is boring sh*t but as its out there i feel the pressure to kinda learn a bit about it - but not sure you guys would give a fuck !
    .
    on another note...........
    .
    .
lots of beautiful girls about thank god, smiling and laughing and generally giving off good vibes............like highly oxygenated air it can make a man giddy !!!
    .
    .
i know the ducati's are perfect, amazing, beasts and beautiful all at once and i tip me hat to the engineers/designers and all but fuck me the man that invented the female body, well he is truly a god..................!!!
    .
    .
i'll leave you on that note for now but i'll be back to continue this balderdash anon..........

thanks you guys for the comments....much apperciated.
    .
got out again saturday for a goose about to blow the webs far far aways, frightened a few humans and went home with hands all ashaking after couple of hours adrenalising.....................hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm nice
    .
    .
this visit of mine to the birth place of the red red rediness was filled with a kind of remorse..........i waited so long to come here, thought about it, dreamed about it, could smell it, taste it, feel it this long time..........and i knew once i had visited that this dreaminess otherworldiness would just vanish, the longing in me would die and would the actuality of it be enough to succour me for times coming...................maybe i should have just come here to the front door...........bathed in the light and taste and smell..............and turned round for home cos then the dream would still be exactly that - a wonderful dream...........like the girl you dreamed about forever and then she appears and maybe you kiss and the dream bubble bursts and the whole, but if you don't, if you just see her, look into her eyes and know her, turn away and hold on to the dream forever......does reality ever live up to our wonderful imaginations................hmmmmm i do ponder this, i do indeed...
    .
but i did go in and i bathed in the light, i walked it, the history, the creations, desmodronic 1956, 90 degree twin 1971, trellis frames 1980, 4 valves 1986, desmosedici, and the names floated in the air..............Recchia, Degli, Antoni, Spaggiari, Gandossi, Forne, Maoggi, Hailwood, Smart, Uncini, Rutter, Lucchinelli, Roche, Polen, Falappa, Fogarty, Corser, Hodgson, Toseland, Bayiss, Checa, Capirossi, Hayden, Stoner.......................i has to tell you i was mesmerised.....so i put a few pictures here and will say no more on it...

so, having seen the wonderful willywonkaesque factory of redredness, having walked through the theatres of the shopfloors, having listened in rapture how it all began, how it became what it is, how i could have licked the very floors of this cathedral dedicated to the pursuit of twists, turns, higher highs and faster speeds, i could hear angels aloft .............................. but it was all too soon over ............
    .
    i left, bereft ..............
    .
hours later asittin' in the nearest waterin' hole the fog slowly lifted to be replaced by a different kinda fog..............i'd been to the mount, i had seen the light, i had set foot upon the world and nothin', just nothin' would ever be the same again
    .
    .
    .
    .
'twere time to leave this beautiful city called Bologna, time to head on up the road, i'd been healed and it was time to recuperate.....
    .
much of the scoot back up towards lago di como was a blur but i did stop into some fine fine eatin' establishments on my weary weary way.
    .
    .
    .
it was a lonely lonely road as i came to realise everything from this point was downhill.................the depth of sadness within started to form itself into something more, maybe you shouldn't ever meet your heroes, or witness the mona lisa, gaze upon the sistine chapel, maybe it brings the sheer waste my life into a sharp focus that for years i have dressed up in distractions.................hmmm
    .
    .
    the lonely road beckoned...
    .
    .
    .
and god but it was cold, the sharpness of the chill permeated my head, my blood my bones....little flurries of snow blew about, not even waiting long enough to land, i needed to stop
    .
    .
    .
    .
after what seemed like nothin' i was back at the lake as the sun slipped behind the majestic mountains....i had to leave the horsie in for a major servicing and find a garage/shed/hotel to lay me weary head in.

must've dropped off to sleep there for a minute, sorry 'bout that.........
    .
    .
gotta finish this bit of nonsense here, now, today and give youse some peace n quiet
    .
    .
so i did sleep well that night and next morning the bike was in the shop so I waltzed about the local village but everywhere I went I spied this thing which turned out to be.........a bag. I submit for your perusal a few snaps of the said bag...

enough with the damn bag I think...........
    .
well, I had a big bag of time to kill before the bike'd be ready so I headed back down the lake walking...............not the best idea I ever had as there were many tunnels to deal with, tunnels with no walkways etc etc but I was bored rigid so off I goes.
    .
    .
first thing I notice is the religiousy symboly stuff, bit like back at home but here it looks a bit more classy..
    .
    .
    .
more tunnels n such where no local would be seen dead !

eventually I make it to the next village and all I could think of was that I'd have to do it all in reverse again (at least the bag disappeared !)
    .
    .
badly in need of sustenance I sniffed about for a food house of sorts.
    .

met a ginger lady here and listened awhile to her meanderings, then reckoned on making my way back to the bike shop again...........
    .
eventualllllly I made it back and the bike, it were ready to go..........so off goes I back to where I'd parked the rental car...........stores the bike in the garage and made ready for the airport for the long journey homewards........
    .
    .
The rental started up first time
    .
    .
    and awayyyyy we went...........
    .
    .
twelve hours later I'm staggering into me own wee place on the west coast of the rock we call home..............
    .
end of another trip down insanity lane for yours truly.....thank you for your great patience, your mighty company and your total indulgence !
    .
    .
    .
    .
now, before I go again, I thought I'd put in at least one picture of a motorcycle for decency's sake...
    .
    this stuff is nearer home........

every time i stopped peoples was walkin' up 'n aksing questions about her..............some even took pics.
    .
this one only had 200 mile on her.............but really it felt a bit like a toy bike to look cool on, not something you could or would wrestle with.
    .
was bit disappointed and yet reassured that me own horsies are just fine.............
    .
and she's a 800cc bike...............expected lot more poke for that ! but i'm always expecting poke and ever frustrated............................but that's anudder storey....

MK, reading your tales from start to finish has happily filled in a wet and cold Sunday afternoon! Your writing and photos are things of beauty and your alternative take on Irish history and your insight into human nature has kept me chuckling for the last couple of hours! Thanks for taking the time to post, it's much apprciated.
