Four of us decided to ride to the top of Mt Spokane. Jurgen rode his 1150 GS, Deb was riding her 1000RR and Kim wa on her RS. I had the 650GS Dakar. This is really a fun, twisty little road with little traffic this time of the year. Kim and I went to the top, while the other two went down to the ski area.

Here's a pic of Jurgen, Kim, and Deb at the big parking lot where we met up again.

Jurgen gave us some pointers on how to do the corners better, and we set off back down the mountain. Think our times down increased substantially thanks to the pointers. I'm glad I took the Dakar instead of the RT or I never would have been able to keep up with them! The RT is still a lot of bike for me to handle at speed in the twisties.

Last week, Jurgen, Mike, Nanc and I had ridden to 49 Deg. North, then back home via Flowery Trail Road to Usk, then back to Spokane. I rode the R1150Rt that time and it is a sweetie on those sweepers.

Nice ride Dale... so, what were the tips in the corners :earaside from standing on the pegs?

I don't suppose the Beemer crowd would be none to pleased that a lowly Kawi showed up to ride with you... but HA that's not stopped me before!!! :lol3

Hey, flower girl, don't be shy! See you on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and I'll let Jurgen explain his cornering secrets to you personally.

I have no idea. got any place you want to go? One thing, if it's nice, I want asphalt so that Jurgen can take nanc for a ride with us. She still doesn't trust me completely on the 1150.

If you have oil and a filter, and instructions, bring your bike over here and we can do it. It shouldn't take any special tools should it? Maybe sometime after you get off work? nanc and I could make you dinner???

Wow it should be hard to pass up dinner and an oil change! Unfortunately it gets dark so fast after work. I'd be riding home in the dark... and the deer love little bikes in the dark... like CANDY!

I'll get the oil change done here... kinda fun sitting on the floor of my garage with oil everywhere! LOL just kidding!

Tell Nanc hello for me and looks like Saturday might be doable!

So we can ride gravel. I am looking at a ~1 hour loop from Starbucks, down Rutter parkway, over Nine Mile Dam, west to Long Lake and then back. Mostly asphalt, but some gravel, and one road supposedly for high clearance vehicles. Will try to bring a map to show it to you tomorrow morning.

You missed a fun ride today! A bit brisk though. We rode up over Nine Mile Dam, then out west a bit, crossed over Long Lake, east through Tum Tum and home. It was beautiful out!

Hope to see you next weekend.:cry

Sorry I missed it Dale -- I was prowling through that area in the cage Wednesday thinking that I would love to be doing this on my bike! I'm embarrassed to admit that I've never been through Riverside State Park! Hopefully our Indian Summer will continue and I can still get a little riding in..

reason I did not attend sent via pm.....

So has everyone around here gone into hibernation or something? Or has the opportunity to select the lesser of two evils got everyone scratching their heads during the biannual "Vote for ME! My challenger is a dirtball!" farce? :huh

BTW, how ya doing, Buttercup? No road trips for me this weekend. Have church activities planned until late Sunday afternoon. I'm paying for past misdeeds, seeing that indulgences are no longer offered. :lol3

After 40 years I have just moved back to Spokane. Aug-Oct did 7000 miles Hilllsboro,Spokane, S ID, UT,AZ,CA,Hillsboro, then moved to Spokane.

Waiting for the next dry day to take the 79 R100RS for a ride then put it up for the winter.

For the record, I got the BMW 2 years ago with 14.5K, nicely stored for 8 years. This is the dark blue over light silver that I drolled over when I first saw them new. I was riding a 76 R90/6/S I bought new 2 years before, the last 90/6 sold by Portland Motorcycle. If I could find that one still in good conditon like my RS is now I would trade straight across for that one. It fit me like I was the model the engineers use used to design it.

I'll be watching the forcast for a ride so let me know whos up. Wed looks possible and with the recent rains could be some wild fungi popping up. Bike ride and a forey Wed, meet noon at??????????

Wall Street Diner is fine, if I knew where it was. Just googled it, not far for me.
I will be there. 4428 N Wall St @ 11:30. We can meet there then decide on a ride somewhere.

Bring the blue RT. Should look good next to my blue/silver RS.

    Anyone else in?

Only thing that will stop me is helping a friend retrieve his wayward son from western OR.

I'll bring the RT. I'm still getting used to riding it. It feels a bit "heavier" than the Dakar :lol3. Hydraulic brakes are a bit quicker on the trigger compared to the cable brakes on the 650. But won't get any better getting it rolling down the road by letting it sit in the garage.

I did take the Dakar out for a quick 20 mile in-town ride today. Now plan on replacing the brake and clutch cables, along with adjusting the valves, brake fluid, radiator fluid, and general maintenance this winter. Seems to be an easy bike to work on. I haven't taken any of the covers off the RT yet, so don't know how easy it will be.

    See you tomorrow at 11:30!

    Dale
