"They don't make 'em like this any more."
It's complicated. I had a Ducati Diavel which is a great around town bike, but a lousy tourer. I bought a new K1600GT last year and sold it in 3 weeks, when I found out that I needed urgent neck surgery. I love the new color of the Sport model. I plan to have this one a long time.
Looks like you have the Wunderlich crash bars already installed, good choice. Don't forget to stop over and say hi at k1600forum.com
Thats awsome. Too bad we didn't visit.
I had the same campsite last year passing through in the opposite direction.
Nice. Enjoy the ride!
From a few years ago when I did 9K across America. I am hearing the calling again..
Howz 'bout a Hyper? Not mah cup of tea, butt if'n ya light w/ lotza wind in yer face...
I just bought, from an inmate, an 06 Moto Guzzi Breva 1100, black/black, factory sidecases, Givi screen and top case mount.
I've since got a Giantloop Fort Rock soft topbag, so my wife can be comfy and carry a metric shit ton of stuff.
As soon as I can figure out pix I'll post shots of the different ways I can configure her.
Speaking of Sport Tourers, now that I'm finally back working days after 11 years of nights, I've been seeing a lot of ST bikes being ridden by what I assume are people commuting. The majority of the bikes have been FJR's with some BMW's and a few others to round out the mix.
So at least here in the Pacific NW the topic question has been answered.
They were hiding from the cold and rain and are back on the roads now that the weather is finally improving
my sport touring rig.
did 1700km (about 1100miles?) in a bit more then 2 days this week.
a tank bag and a rucksack. sure, i had to do some autobahn to get to the coast and that wash´t exactly fun. but as soon as i reached the awesome coastal road in croatia i was more then happy to be on a light, nimble and powerful bike. not to mention awesome looking and with a sound out of this world.
9k on that? Very Nice. Sounds like a saweeeet trip!
I do too. Congrats! What a fantastic motorcycle....
Haha, not everyone... You would of seen me all winter, every morning at 6am on McLoughlin Blvd on my Trophy.
You, sir, are fucking awesome!!
This thread rocks.
Thanks Kawasakirob, it was! Did the seat, made a custom mount for bags, and dropped the pegs a bit and it was perfect. At 65-70 MPH the wind is just enough to keep the pressure off my wrists. It is also the speed where the exhaust noise is equal to the wind through the helmet, it was bliss! Here is a vid of the more enthusiastic moments of the journey. https://vimeo.com/68466403
Very nicely done vid.
Good onya for doing what you do. Inspiring and fun to watch.
