I'm getting ready for a ride next year after not riding for almost 10. So I set up my new WR250 with a Montana. Then I ordered a SPOT 3. Instruction say keep it 12" from gps receivers. I have Ram mounts and on my bars, no way can I get them that far apart. So, those who have both units, have you had any problems having them closer, such as 6" apart.

I don't own a Spot III but my two Spot units have no issues with being 6" away from our Montana 650 units. My wife has a Spot I, and I have a II.

Thanks for the reply and the pic. Mine are farther apart than in the pic, so I will give it a try after I activate the SPOT.

I have seen several guys running their GPS units less than 12" from their SPOT, knowing this issue, and haven't had any problems with their GPS.

I've placed all three SPOT models as they've evolved virtually right next to a Zumo 550 and there never was an issue.

And it provides a nice little lump to land on when you fall just right.

No pics - but mine (2 GPSes and the Spot) are usually pretty close together. I haven't noticed any problems with any of them.
