If your out on your own. Don't forget that your alone and ride that way. You are risking it and that is an important thing to remember. Don't ride stupid alone. I like my Spot and as said before if you have people watching you that's the best backup you can have. The ELB will verify your in trouble that's if you can push the button!

But an on the ball family member or friend can see if you have stopped moving for an extended amount of time. Hopefully that's not just at a bar or brothel. :deal

Want an extra set of 'eyes' watching you while you ride? I know I do...

Sign up on http://www.WhereAmIRiding.com and let us add an extra set of human and digital eyes to your ride.

Pilots file a flight plan when they fly, I file a ride plan when I ride with my buddies. I check out, I check in while riding, and I close out my ride plan when I'm done. Shouldn't we all want the extra help just in case we need it?

It's free, it always will be free, it's fun, and it's 1 more layer of safety when you ride.

It's also an easy way to memorize your spot link since the one they give you is impossible to memorize.

My custom SPOT link is now: Http://Strega.WhereAmIRiding.com (Based off my username when registering)

Did I mention it's free? No donations, no ads, no spam emails, just a great way to get an easy to remember SPOT link and some peace of mind for friends, family, loved ones, wives, kids, girlfriends, mistresses, probation officers, and anyone else you want to send your link too.

I created this because I want my friends and like minded people to get help if they need it.

Hi Mr Gil! good to "see" you... I'm going on my first Baja adventure next week so just got a Spot. As you can see in my signature I put links to my spot page and Spotwalla, but it sounds like Strega has solved the issue of - why can't I go to either of these places and find my damn friends spot map page?? WTF is that privacy or ??

I will check it out, and Strega thanks.

Now back to our friend Rhino... Billy if you are out there, I don't know if you ever posted any final words of wisdom on this thread (post number anybody?)... But in getting my Spot and testing out the SOS button, I ended up by accident talking to the manager right at the control console at IERCC - in fact I HEARD the alarm go off when he told me to go ahead and push the SOS button.

Bottom line is he told me about the long conversations he had with you (in a good light BTW, nothing negative implied).. and he still remembered all the facts (and they matched what you told me on Sunday in the LV trauma center)... So...for me personally all the events that took place that fateful day make sense to me (I mean they correlate and don't conflict) and give a reasonable explanation of what happened in the decision tree of the "rescuers"... This gave me renewed reason that Spot actually can work very well. I don't want to say more, I'd rather you did that. If you are out there anymore:ear

I am ONLY interested in the Spot device part of this long and already hashed out saga. To others, if Bill has given us an explanation after the fact, after the meds have worn off... then please just point me to it.

    cheers,
    -matt

I dont want to beat a dead horse but ran out of time after 12 pages. I guess the things pointed out in the first few pages are what we can take away from this... unless i missed something in the last 14 or so pages.

And have someone that you've trained to stay by a phone when you hit that button, making sure the rescue personnel have all the info needed to find you.
