Good news. The garage, and it's contents, didn't blow away in the wind storm. Had to be 60+ mph gusts and it's still bendin' the trees as I write this. I haven't walked around the yard, yet, to look for damage on the house or anywhere else, but we've managed through the few-times-a-year 60 - 80mph winds, so this one should have been too bad.

More good news. This hot breezes have melted every bit of snow out of the yard, driveway, roads and nearly everywhere I can see from the house (except the mountain tops and the ice on Lake Helena/Hauser Lake).

More good news. Yesterday, about a dozen Robin Red Breast road in on the warm air and were in the yard dueling for territory. Spring isn't far away. Oh, there will be more snow, as always, and still a few more months until all the trails are open/snow free, but road and backroad riding is now good except for the occasional shady spot up high. I've managed to ride a few times in the last month, which started as soon as our 2 miles of gravel road melted and became ice free, but now way more roads just opened up.

How about them apples? When is the last time you read a "good news/bad news" post and it turned out to be all good news?! :clap

Glad your weather is clearing. I still have over a foot of snow in the yard and while the main roads are clear, the side streets are still covered in slush/ice.

Just home from church and at 48F still have about 2' of snow above Frenchtown (NW suburb to Missoula) with solid ice covered with water for driveway and roads. Contemplating digging out the trailer and taking bike down into the valley for a ride. But by the time I dig out the trailer, load the bike, gather the scattered riding gear up, get dressed, get it all down the hill.... sigh, it will be near dark.... :huh

So, going to dig out trailer and get the gear together to have a head start on next opportunity.:D

Sadly that's exactly what I was thinking of doing- trailering my bike to somewhere in Lolo maybe and heading down the 'root a bit. It's been beautiful the last few days but it isn't melting off fast enough and we're getting more on Wednesday :cry:cry

    Hi Jeff,

I really can't say as I went up the West Fork. Just looked around and then took a ride around the lower Sapphires. Ran into some really slick mud-ice and did some slipping and sliding....:eek1 then had to cross a section of ice & snow before I returned to pavement.

Parked Motorcycle Syndrome is serious business.

    On a barely related note...
Time to end the ban on youth ATVs and motorcycles for good. Check out the link and submit the form letter. Electronic forms are not near as good as picking up the telephone or paper mails, but it's better than nothing and only takes a second.

Thirty some for a high tommorow and then it works its way down to 13 by Monday. Man I have the late winter blues, may need intervention.

Sweet. You'll have to explore the routes out in the Pryors and then take me on a tour when I stop by.

I've spent a little time down there in my Toyotas (mostly digging out of drifts). Definitely going to head down there soon.
