I am planning a trip to Stanley, ID for the first week of August. I am bringing my DRZ 400 S with me. I am looking for suggestions for places/trails/roads to check out. I like technical riding, but I'm not enthused about some of the crazy cliffside stuff I've seen photos and videos of. I'll be riding by myself. I have looked at the MVUM and it seems to have a lot of moto trails. Is there some map available from the Forest Service or some other source?

    Thanks in advance.

Perfect time to arrive in the Sawtooth range. You will find there are more logging roads than you can even attempt to ride in your short duration. The DRZ will be the perfect machine for the area. I could babble on about tons of places to ride but I have a friend who has property just out of Stanley, When you get out this way PM me and I might set up a time to meet up there we can meet and possibly show you around on some rides.

There are some 'must see' areas, including Black Rock Mine area.

You'd enjoy the Aztez loop on your 400, as well as the run up Nip Tuck to see the overlook up the Sawtooth area.

Lots of great riding in that area on a 400.

    Glad you enjoyed yourself!

We like to tell people that the NW has bad weather and mean people just so they stay out and leave us places like those you visited. Glad you appreciated all our hard work out there. :evil

With any luck, we'll be in Idaho next week or so. I am bringing my DRZ 400.

My main question is: Do they still sell gasoline at Smiley Creek?

Hoping to spend some time in the McCall area. Any recommendations for places to go in that area?
