Seems like my pics have disappeared? Around 1940 rural counties of s. Oregon and n.Cal tried to form a new state, didn't feel fairly represented by their more wealthy ,urban state governments. WW2 ended the movement ,it resurfaced in n. Cal couple of years ago ,but was voted down. Lots of stuff ..Google

GAH. I must check out these roads. I am somewhat tempted to invite a friend along just in case. Damn these heavy wee stroms.

I need a paved FS road that goes over to Southern Oregon somewhere.

    Anyone have suggestions?

    Hmm... that's easy.
The only 'paved' road is 'Indian Valley Road'/Greyback Road from Happy Camp over to O'Brien and Cave Junction.

However, there are a couple 'unpaved' roads that can handle a wee.

One of them is the 'Siead Creek' road... that turns into FS 48N20... and then into the '1050' road on the Orygun side.
It comes out at Apple Gate lake. At the 'pass' on that road we ran into a BMW 520 !!!
    Summertime... easy road.

Bolan Lake route is also easy in the summertime... but is a bit narrow on the California Side.
Good traction with no obstacles. (well... at least when I went through).

I have ridden Greyback. It's cool.

I was just eyeing the Seiad Creek route myself. My dad used to live near Copper about 20 years ago. We lived up on Carberry Creek which forms a Y with the end of 1055. It's perfect because I can hit 238 and surprise Dad. @TwilightZone thanks as always for the route input. I really do appreciate it.

    Hi guys!

I'm thinking of doing these routes. Got any Intel?

    Route one.

    Route two.

I grew up on Carberry Creek so I know what to expect there. I have no concerns about the road from Seiad Valley to Copper, either. It's mainly the route I have out of Hoopa that has me very curious. Thanks in advance for any information. I'll be on my DR650 for this ride.

Frickin' awesome shasta650; read through the first report from '15 and this looks like a fantastic area to explore/ride. Need to haul my DS down there from up north and do a multi-day trip.

Thanks for the first report and the pic of the caboose in O'Brien; bet it's fun riding over the coast range from there (or heading east through the mountains that way).
