Anyone care to show pics of how they setup their steering dampers (if you use one)?

I'm enjoying the heck out of my KLR with DMC Enduro sidecar, but really notice the front end shakes easy. I already have a steering damper that came with the sidecar on my Goldwing which I intend to use... just want to see how others have situated theirs.

Interesting - just took a caliper to measure fork leg diameter... at the upper fat area (of the lower fork leg) where the seal is installed (and I have an Eagle Mike fork brace fitted) the diameter is 58 mm. Lower down the leg the diameter is 48-50 mm - not round... over much of the leg. Easy to see the legs are cast and not finish machined in the lower area, but I'm surprised to see a 2 mm ovalization. Kind of makes it more challenging to find a clamp that'll fit!

Have seen shims as in thin strips of aluminum. Others have used aluminum foil, when there is nearly no room.

I use to own a KLR.

Here's a couple pics of the ways I have mounted my dampner on my 2 bikes.Maybe they might give you some ideas.

I had to use some 1" by 1/8" aluminum to shim up my fork clamp, I had to hammer it to shape. Worked great. My steering damper came off of a goldwing too, I had to fab up a mount for the car. I made it out of 2X2 angle, Here are a couple of pics, maybe it will help.

You can see the shims in this pic.

Appreciate the pics... keep 'em coming. Interesting the head shake issue. Steering is much lighter (understandably) on the KLR than the Goldwing, but it's much more prone to the shakes.
