Well! ........... it was planned as one of those easy day rides, but as the sun rose.... thunder storms and heavy rain became a daunting prospect.

But never the less the group of 7 (Masterbrewer TDM; CharlieW Dominator; Bwvtom Tiger; DrBlue DR650; Chrisbyles KTM640; OzAdvRider KTM 640; face scrape 2001 (although he couldn't do the ride) ) met as planned.

Adelaide is fantastic when you can get onto the dirt within 10kms of the CBD if you know where.

Then onto the old Coopers Car Rally roads...................smooth, fast, flowing and .................. some times wet as you will see later

Oh! my god!! .........my new KTM........these roads......... this is SSOOO much fun!!!!

As well as navigating the roads we also were navigating between the thunder storms.

Although some of us sometimes found the navigating challenging !!!

Is it left or right around the tree?

Of course! .................well I never!!!!!!........a Bakery

Coffee & cake with some of the locals in the background

    More rally roads

    and did someone say WET!!!!

But you all know the saying.........." Men & mud........will have fun "

    Absolute fabulous country side tracks

We were fortunate to have in our group..................

"The Ninja" ..........................to care & watch over us & take notes etc

or was it to make sure we didn't take any short cuts

Map direction checking time ......this way!.....no that way!.....OK you lead!... at the top of the range before we hit the plains scrub to Swan Reach for lunch

Calculating the speed of those fast moving rain soaked thunder clouds in the distance as well as navigating the roads was a challenge

    Into the mallee scrub

Destination .......the Swan Reach Hotel on top of the cliff.....Yum!! ..Yum!!! tucker time

We tackled a loop down to Walkers Flat which included a road block or two

    Picturesque Walkers Flat

After successfully negotiating the fast moving thunder storms most of the day................looking west to home......we could see our luck had run out....................... no more gaps in the clouds

And YES!!....it pissed down all the way home.

A fabulous day though.....................nothing difficult but still a huge variety of roads to enjoy.

    CYA next time soon

    Cheers

some good riding to be had in the mallee thats for sure ! the pic of the guys coming down the track with all the rocks on the side is a very nice fast flowing section, if its the one im thinking of not far from swan reach.
a tad dusty the last time i went down it though, not that you guys had that prob by the looks of it, nice and green around there now :D

Good report & photos, i'm looking forward to coming along for another ride soon, last one I did was The Bakery Ride that we did around the Fleurieu Peninsula.

I have riden some of those farm access roads through the hills on the way to Sedan & they certainly are fun, especially this time of the year.

    Cheers, Sol.. :thumb

    You crazy bastard! LOL
I have one TDM just like that one but for those kind of tracks i Prefer the other bike i own, a 400 EXC racing KTM! The TDM just is too heavy and "road minded" to those terrains!!:clap
I must confess I'm eager to exchange the Yam for a GS or an Varadero!!!:norton
