I am in the midst of putting a modern paint scheme on my legacy 95 YZF600 and just had to ride it, so for the time being, here is my fighter.

Looks cool! I'm excited to see where this thread is going. I've always thought the streetfighter concept was a cool one, but the execution of the local ones I've seen has been generally lacking. Not that I've ever been too picky about what my bikes looked like anyways :lol3

Lets see some more pics! :lurk

Briefly toyed with the idea of "street fightering" my 01 YZF600R one year while I had the bodywork off doing annual services:

But I don't find the 'Cat's frame all that attractive and tuning to carbs to work without their elaborate ram-air plumbing was more bother than I wanted to mess with.

This is true. I think the street fighter guys don't care that it's not pretty. I think they embrace the look, and the fu world and what you think about my ride persona.

Uh no, its because they are too cheap/poor to afford to replace damaged bodywork.
Thats how it got started anyway...

Not quite done. The question is which way was I going with it? :ear

Not really turning it into a streetfighter, but this is about as close as it will come. :D

That's pretty accurate from what I've always been told. Started in Europe with street racers spending money on performance upgrades rather than busted body work. The look became popular so now you can get them like that from the manufacturers.

True or not, I love them because they remind me of the original hot rods before they became expensive car show trailer queens owned by rich old white men...mean bikes meant to be ridden hard with no fluff.

I rode this H1 in 1977. Had a Street fighter look to it. It was red when I got it.
I painted it black with spray paint.

Were's all the old gsxr 1000s that started the whole street fighter movement? Thats want I want to see. Aaron are you going to paint it this year or just leave it in primer? Looks kinda cool with the fresh paint on the frame and etc.. Then the primer on the bodywork. Also I would love to find a FZR400 and do the streetfighter thing.

Well, the primer is easy to fix if it gets scratched :evil. I was mounting the body panels today, recracked the right side fairing (where I already fixed it :baldy). I discovered that I was missing 4 body clips, and the fasteners to the swing arm protector/chain guide/slide. If I keep breaking shit, then it may end up going street fighter permenately. I thought about full air-tech race fairings, but that costs money, and requires even more time working on it. Frankly if I wanted to wrench, I would have bought a Harley:jack. Here is my lady with most of her clothing.
