I've always been told that most "carburetor problems" are electrical in nature.
I can appreciate your comment now since the mystery is over (I hope).
So, do you have good news?
Could have solved it day one if you would have added. "I recently added a new aftermarket stator."
It is common in trouble shooting to check everything that was recently done on the item whether you think it was done perfectly or not. New parts are defective too.
Wow!!! Red loctite on the engine side cover bolts? The next person who has to remove those bolts is going to be cussing.
Take "red" paint pen....mark the bolt heads.

My "mentor" at the shop I worked at always pointed this out to us Noob mechanics to watch for. Seems to still be good advice.

It's confusing that he had two separate threads going but he did mention the stator upgrade clear back in post #3 in the Trip Planning thread.
