    Buell owner here:

    1) You've got a headlight out.
    2) Your bike's still running (cooling fan).
    3) What size is it? It's a 1203. No way-- it's too small!

Kids always give me the "wheelie" (up & down) hand sign. I ignore them. I can wheelie my bike, but only by accident.

I was once stopped at a light and I had some HD T-shirt wearing goofball walk up to me in the road to inform me that the Ulysses was a bike that never should have been built. My Uly's kinda noisy (sorry, ADVRider Db police), so as soon as I realized he was insulting my choice of bike I whacked the throttle a few times to drown out his idiocy. The light changed. I rode off. He walked back to the sidewalk.

¿De dónde eres? [where are you from?]

¿Adónde vas? [Where are you going?]

not really that dumb, considering a gringo riding in S Am.

In Ladakh India the kids run out and stick there hands out in hopes you'll give them a high speed high 5 as you pass. The more it stings, the more delighted thay seem, now that's dumb!

Some people cant distiguish their own ass from a hole in the ground...I ride a '95 Honda ST1100 ...It clearly says Honda on it from any angle...and yet I get "Is that a BMW?" Because of my Hi-Viz jackets I get the "Are you a fireman?" My answer "No I'm a retired cop" That usually is the end of it...
I will say that many times good people will talk about motorcycling and relate some fascinating stories. I always try to be agoodwill ambassodor for our sport...but it really does depend on whom I am speaking with.

Two summers ago, I was out in the middle of Utah on my then brand new Ulysses. I stopped at a rest stop outside of Duchesne to take a leak. When I came out, a car had pulled up next to the bike. Can't remember what kind of car, but it was one of those things old folks drive, an Olds or Crown Vic or something like that. The couple were in their seventies or eighties, and they looked like ma and pa kettle. The old man was looking at my motorcycle, and then he looks at me and says "Boy, that's one of those motorcycles you can ride on and off the road, isn't it? I bet you see some country on that thing!"

    Funny as shit, I thought.

I enjoy when people come out, minus the teenage boys begging to let them ride.

Sadly, I never get anyone actually coming up to ask about my Bandit. I've got it stripped naked and have a Cyclops headlight on it, and some other parts that made it hard to tell what it is, especially being painted matte black and being debadged. I just get odd looks.

On the Sherpa, it gets hard to leave a gas station as everyone comes up to me, little boys and girls thinking it's awesome, their parents trying to tell me it's illegal to ride (you know, because it doesn't have a license plate, turn signals, a horn, headlight, and taillight), moped riders thinking it's cool that such a small bike can be so versatile and not scare with them with weight or power, bigger dual sport come up to say they wish they had something small and light to throw around, metric cruiser guys come up to always mention how they started riding off road dirt bikes and then small cc on-road bikes, but are getting too old and so ride what their wives can be comfortable on the back of, Harley riders make a joke about me growing up and getting one of their bikes someday, and pure sportbike riders tend to keep to themselves.

I'm not religious or anything, but wouldn't you keep going back if you knew where to find him?

One time I came back from Mexico... When I stopped at a motel for the night I opened the trunk to grab my luggage and I found Jesus. He said: "mucho grassy ass senior" :D

How he got in my trunk I’ll never know. :dunno

I dont have any markings on my SV650 (flat black) so that leads to many questions about the bike. People have a easy lead in question to come talk. If I see them before they get too me and I'm busy I throw the helmet on and that shortens the conversation.

On the westcoast tour I took with 3 of my friends everyone wanted to know what was up with the four kids with bags all over their bikes from Oregon. People loved it and gave us some great tips on roads and places to eat.

I always get "wow I didn't know BMW made bikes like that" I always say well it's actually made by Aprilia, then BMW bought Husqvarna so they stopped making them. Gets allot of :huh

One harley dude caught me out though. He was checking out the bike and I was expecting some dumb ass comment and he goes "so is that the Austrian rotax or the chinese one?" :eek1
