    Hi simestd,

That is certainly the weakest mount point. I welded and strengthened that one on a customers DR a couple of years ago at his request. While I haven't heard about any failures from any of my customers, I still want to add the extra mount as soon as possible.

I am patiently waiting for another DR650 to come by this way so I can add the 5th mounting point on top of the fender. Everyone's riding their bikes! The season will be drawing to a close and I may have to wait till that happens before I can get one in here for R&D. I do have a customer that might ride up here to pick up his racks on Oct. 12th as long as it's not raining. I'm praying for NO RAIN. If he brings it, I'll be able to do a mock up.

Keep an eye on this thread and I'll post up something when I'm able to add that mount point.

    Thanks, Tom

    Tom,

Do you still have a set of side luggage racks with the Nelson Rigs bags for a 400 SM?

One question, how do you compare the Nelson Rigs with the Givi hard cases? As far as capacity and possibly low sliding on them?:-)

    Thanks

Hi Ron, I have three sets of side racks in stock for the DR-Z400S or SM, and three sets of black Nelson-Rigg Adventure Dry Saddlbags - Survivor Edition, and three of the Nelson Rigg Adventure Dry Duffels 40 liter black

The NR bags hold a LOT more than the Givi E21's. I can fit all of my camping gear into one bag. I haven't tried sliding with them on pavement yet, but I don't think they or any other PVC Bags would hold up well to that. NR is supposed to have peel and stick patches that you can cut to size and apply. They are instantly waterproof and then cure completely in about 12 hrs. I'll give them a call and get some to have in stock.

Go here and put the side racks into the cart:
    http://www.moto-racks.com/Blank.html

Then go here to add the bags:
    http://www.moto-racks.com/Adventure-Packages.html

My E21N Givi cases have slid on pavement and gravel a few times and are all scraped up, but no perforations yet. They are very useful, but not big enough for me to carry everything I bring for camping trips. That's just me though and I probably take way too much stuff with me.

    Thanks, Tom

I've finally added the Small Rear Luggage Rack to the product line. This rack is in response to customers who thought the Large Luggage Rack was just too big.

Here's a link to my web page: http://www.moto-racks.com/DR650-buy-page.html

    Thanks, Tom

Just checking in to see if the center support has been added?

Looking forward to getting a rack on my new DR but would like the added support of the center bolt.

    Thanks

Tencore, thanks for inquiring about our DR650 Rear Luggage Racks. I'm sorry to say I still haven't had a chance to get a DR650 in here. I'm rebuilding a trailer and when I'm done I know someone with a DR that I can pick up and do some R&D. I'll post something on my website and on here as soon as it's done.

    Thanks, Tom

I saw that plate at the Jackpiner57 Steel Works not so long ago, and it's a very rugged piece of kit. It would make mounting a variety of hard cases much simpler.

I'm now a Mule Pack Panniers dealer. The price for a set of these excellent panniers including their attachment hardware is $439.00 shipping included.

If you need a set of Side Luggage Racks for these, I make them for 189.00 plus 30.00 for the Mule Pack Tabs which allow these panniers to bolt right on with their knobs.

They're not on my website yet, but you can call me at 802-584-3441 or email me at moto-racks@fairpoint.net to order.

    Two questions:

    1) what diameter tubing are your side racks? I want to do ortlieb bags which require a 16mm or smaller tubing.

    2) did you make the support upgrade for dr650 rear racks? I know you said you would post about it, but haven't seen it yet. I agree with everything others have said.

I really like your products, and look forward to being able to afford them! Hoping the added support will be standard by that time

    Hi Tombo,

Thanks for inquiring about our dual-sport luggage racks. The tube diameter is 3/4", but I can custom fabricate the ring out of 5/8" (16mm) to accommodate the Ortleib QL2 Motorcycle Saddle Bags. I have a set of them myself. I also weld on a couple of stops to prevent the bags from sliding fore and aft. It's a solid setup.

I'll be back in the shop tomorrow if you want to give ma a call.

    Thanks,

    Tom

    Tombo,

I have a DR650 coming into the shop Mon. or Tues. I'll be using the bike for R&D and will be adding a fifth mounting point to the center of the rear fender. Keep an eye on the DR650 page of our website and I'll add it to the description when I'm ready.

    Thanks,

    Tom

Hi Tom, I have a DR650 with FMF Q4 exhaust and if I strap a bag down on the rear, I'm afraid the exhaust will burn it, so I'm in the market for a wide and not too expensive rack. I found yours and the other guy's "BBQ rack" - will yours prevent the bag from resting on the exhaust? Do you have any specials or discounts available? The BBQ rack company offers 20% discount for sending a money order. Not sure why but I'll take it! :rofl

Also I'd need it in hand by Sept 12 (week from tomorrow) so I can install and have it ready for a big trip the following week. Is that possible? I see your site says 3 weeks for production.

    Thanks.

Pelican 1520 and 1550 cases are bomber and affordable.
Sea Horse cases even more so as are those Mule Cases you sell.

you need to get some racks now for more adv bikes.
