will your racks fit on the new 2012 strom rear rack or is the shape different?
How's the good southern living treating you/1 Very well, I hope!
Judging from what I saw at the International Motorcycle Show, my extensions WILL NOT FIT the 2012 650 V-Stroms .
They've done an overhaul on the rear rack structure and I need to get to my local dealer for some measuring to see how different they are. I may be able to develop a version for them yet this spring.
I just bought a used 2005 Wee and would like to order your rack extensions. Are you still producing them?
Yes, still making the racks, but I have not yet finished the design on a new rack for the 2012 Wees.
Work has kept me busy but I am looking forward to doing some traveling this summer.
I just PMed you...
Back in May 2012 I sold my trusty V-Strom and the rack was gone not long after. Well, back in May I bought a new Triumph Explorer and am back looking for rack, just like yours, made by you, with the same high quality... I sent a question through PM...
Hope you're still in business...
Good to hear from you Voluhzia. I'm still in business, PM returned.
Getting ready for the riding season. The calendar says spring but the thermometer said 18 degrees this morning.
Hope it warms up soon!
I'd like to buy your standard (small?) rack as described in your first post:
<table border="0" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td class="alt2" style="border:1px inset"> Basic dimensions are 18.7" wide and 12.8" long. It is made of 1/8" 5052 Aluminum with textured black powder coating... </td></tr></tbody></table>
I live in Colorado and have a 2008 V-Strom 650.
Please let me know if you have one to ship to me, and what e-mail address to send $95 to via PayPal. I sent you a PM yesterday. Thanks!
Does anybody know how to get hold of GrauTier other than through this forum, such as by sending him an e-mail for me? I sent him a PM on April 23rd and have not heard back from him. I'd really like to buy his rack ASAP, as I have a trip planned very soon. Thanks!
EDIT: GrauTier responded now, so no need to bother him. Thanks.
Just placed an order with GrauTeir for an original size extension. I will post pix once I get it and load it up with my commuter haul... thanks GT!
Received and installed my rack extension (original size). here is the breakdown.
THANK YOU GRAUTIER!
the rack kicks ass, looks great and is a perfect size to hold my stuff.
VERY Well packaged, great directions, top quality hardware, very professionally shipped to my door, but with the personal touch of a hand-written address on the front - i love it!
100% top grade. super well designed anchor points, very nice wrinkle finish, SS hardware. looks and performs 100% top shelf indeed!
while the directions say to, i DID NOT remove the stock rack. i have a Givi Bag system that is a huge PITA to mess with - since it is anchored by the stock rack i didn't mess with it, i just worked in the tiny space i had and made it work.
Using a 5MM allen key and 13MM boxwrench it wasnt that hard (took me 10 mins) the "hard part" was the two forward bolts. there is 3/4 of an inch to work with but i used electrical tape to hold the nut and washer to the wrench and slipped it under the rack and it was no problem to get them on and tight...
fits my stuff perfectly and with lots of slots and holes to slip the cargo bungee and bungee cords as needed. it it JUST what i was looking for (actually the reason i joined this forum was to be able to contact GrauTeir to buy this damn thing in the first place).
the ONLY con i have it this: the top surface may be slipperly depending on what you put on it. my particular backpack (Ogio Metrobag) is slippery on the rack. if Faye (my bikes name) in on her sidestand my backpack will slide right off if not bungee'd. no biggie. just the one thing i could think.
SATISFACTION: 100% completely satisfied with the whole experience. totally highly recommend this to anyone who is considering it...
thanks - B.
Rear bolts are easily accessible with no issues at all.
You can see the bottom of the front bolt's threads here at the certer of the photo - hard to get to unless you are a ingenuity genius like me
This picture is upside-down. rotate your monitor to view properly.
Looks great from the back. (why do people blur or strike out the Lic.Pl.?)
Looks great from the front.
Looks great from the side.
Using my Waterproof HD Bag with my custom-made buckles. On and off the rack extension in 10 seconds.
Sewed some straps onto my bag to mate with the rack's buckles.
Four buckles - BOOM!
back in Colorado and still thinking about a 2012 Vstrom.
My source for a rack didn't work out. Anyone willing to lend me their rack for the winter in trade for a finished extension?
I've got a factory rack I took off my 2012 dl650 if ya need one to do a extension plate.
PM sent for large rack rack
Anything available yet for the 2012+ 650?
Nothing to date, thanks.
Hi GrauTier, I'm interested in a rack extension for my 2011 vstrom 650 similar to the one pictured above, can I order one through you?
Sure, send me a PM and we'll figure it out.
Sorry about the delay.
