I have a street legal crf50. If i were to transfer the dual sport kit with license plate over to a custom built 150 and rode the 150 on the road....if i were caught would i only have to pay a fine?:evil

Depending on the cop it could go a lot of different ways. If the other 150 is also a Honda, you could get lucky and the cop wont know where the VIN is on a motorcycle and just assume it matches.

But you could get your bike towed/impounded, your tags taken and turned into MVA. Ticket for operating motor vehicle w/ out insurance. Ticket for operating unregistered motorvehicle. I can't remember what the ticket is called but its something like "operating motor vehicle w/ tags registered to another vehicle". And maybe some other ones I can't think of.

If any of the traffic tickets don't have a fine and are "must appear" tickets, then the officer does have the choice to arrest you and take you before a commissioner to sign your tickets. I can't remember if not having isurance is a "must appear" ticket. I'm assuming you have a good drivers license w/ a motorcycle endorsement. B/c I'm positive driving on a suspended license is a "must appear" ticket that they can arrest you for if they want to.

I'd listen to Bucho. I used to tag switch on my trailers when I was a poor college kid, but I'd never do it on a motor vehicle. Too much at stake if you get caught.

I would not worry about getting stopped if you are obeying the laws but if you happen to get in an accident and they start checking the VIN to the registration you will be offically screwed.
