    HERE!!

Been away rebuilding the BMW TC website - got me working each night for the last, what, 5 months and now finally got it somewhere where it actually looks OK... (ask me how the hell did I get involved in that shit - I blame Bala, for a start)

Anyone want a Wordpress/Weaver Pro II expert? I am one now...

Away in Melbourne that weekend, celebrating a 50th... Might take me a while to get over that :freaky

Other weekends to Xmas are rapidly getting booked out too

Enjoy the day guys - I'll be tanking up... :1drink

So there you all are, Ben married, house so you know what comes next :eek1, then you will lose 10 years of riding :D.

Ian, bugger mate it happens to us all sometime so as long as there are no long term effects all good.

Sorry guys can't make the 18th as just got back from 3 weeks away, MotoGP, Snowy and Vic high country, need to do some bike maintenance on the GS and the little Husaberg Fe390.

Have a good ride guys and look forward to catching up with you all soon
    Cheers,
    Bruce

The idea of a noob ride is to have a mixture of noobs and experienced riders - this is the way I learnt to ride in the dirt after having road bikes all my life (not counting farm bikes). Also saw a lot of the countryside I had never seen before, again guided by people who have been there and done that...

Noob rides don't happen often - take advantage of learning from the experts when you can

    Well said Viz,

This ride is still happening next Sunday as planned, barring really bad weather. Even if its raining I will be there and make a decision at the start time. Some of the best rides of my life have started in the rain with people pulling out left and right on me.

It is hard for me to guage who is coming and who is new but we can sort it out at the start point. Experienced riders are welcome to take off and have some fun but be gentle with the newbs and try to give some feedback, even if you only spend a little time behind us.

I have the GPS tracks but if someone is experienced with the route, I would appreciate a ride leader to come forward and then depending on numbers, some experienced people to do a little corner marking.

I will go back and read this thread from the start.

Rides for newbies are a good idea, and not done often enough (I've been on them as a newbie in the past myself, as well as being involved in some as an accompanying rider).

The run from Richmond to Webb Creek and StAlbans via the Colo River and Wheelbarrow Ridge Track has become one of my regular routes when I want a mixed tar/dirt ride.

I'm thinking of doing a ride with an overnight camp on Saturday so it may fit well with the Sunday newbie ride for me.

I will know closer to the weekend whether I can make it or not.

    Cheers,
    Ock.

The idea of a newbie ride is to give them the opportunity to try a level of riding they may not be confident doing alone.

If you are new to riding dirt come along to see what you can learn.

If you are a skilled rider come along to pass on some of your knowledge and experience.

Or just come along to see what others do different to what you do, although I started riding over 41 years ago I'm still keen to learn better skills.

Even just come along for the social ride aspect of the day if you want to.

I'm hoping I can make the day on my KLE500

Might show for this on my totally stock :bluduh bike. Farkling takes shed time and I keep getting distracted by riding when I can.

May see you guys there. Thanks for the idea K.

Some things have been planned for me I think but I think it's also time for a bit of me time.

Don't really know how noob I am really. Should be an interesting way to find out. :freaky

None of this out there guys.... My bike last Saturday.

There I was, laying down under the bike for a rest and she was thumping me on the shoulder for dropping it. We'd been on the elephant trail (seriously, its an old elephant trail) for hours and this one stretch of about 100 metres was like grease. Neil (from Windsor) dropped his BMW on this stretch too.... twice.

I'd saved it once earlier in the day.... at a cost of some stretched muscles when I reefed it back upright after the front end hit a rock in gravel.... boy do I miss the steering damper that's on the 525. I got serious after that and let the tyres down.

You guys will help the noobs with tyre pressure info, won't you?
