    It was a fantastic day.

Thanks to Karl for starting the idea, and to Wayne [waynetheone] for leading most of the tracks and back roads.

The so called "newbies" handled it all very well.

Due to work tying up the next three days [and parts of my evenings as well] I probably won't get pics and a report uploaded until about Thursday].

Great to meet you all, hope we can do another run in the near future [Christmas approaching, so it may be tough to fit in.....but with luck :deal ].

    Cheers,
    Ock. [aka Steve]

ps. When I get a report done I will post it in the "Ride Reports" section and post a link here.

As you can see from the pic, there were eight of us and a good mix of experience and noobness and guys just out for a less hectic ride. Also a great mix of machined from the little yammy 125, up to the PIG and the super ten.

Many lessons learnt. The nerves had me early on and it took a while to settle down and start to loosen up. The sand was interresting and thankfully brief. I went through it ok and looked back to see the super10 wiggle its way through too in the mirror. I should keep my eyes on the road. Some very good learnung on fine throttle control, rear wheel power slide steering and feeling the front nobbly to bite into the corners.

Thank you experienced guys (Wayne, Ian and Ock). Taking newbs out is so much more than just having to wait and corner mark. Its those little bits of advice and the fact that if things did go pear shaped then you would take care of us.

I am pretty busy up to xmas now with my 40th and all, but I will be sure to organise one again in the new year. Newbs!, dont be afraid to organise your own... Looking forward to the other pics Ock, there were camera's bloody everwhere!..

Thanks once again to Karlxx for organising the trip and getting everyone out and on the road (usually the hardest part of any ride!). Thanks also to Wayne the one for guiding us along some beaut tracks, and for his gentle encouragement to tackle stuff I wouldn't have done on my own ( Wayne: "Yeah, I reckon the Husky will go up that" Stilt "I'm not worried about the Husky's ability, it's the n00b on the top that scares me"), thanks to Ock for the great chat along the way, and most of all, thanks to everyone in the group for making it such a great day out.

Looking forward to the next one. At which I promise to be less hungover and less creepy looking (and thanks for not laughing at my movember disgracefulness).:rofl

Hang in there guys, I'm trying to get pics on to photobucket so I can add them to a RR.

Work is getting in the way of my spare time, big day today and unlikely to knock off before 11:00pm tomorrow [Friday off though :clap ]

Floating the idea of an overnight camping run to Newnes one weekend soon, let me know if you're interested [same easy pace as the Noob run].

Also Belanglo and Wombeyan Caves areas for either a day ride or a camping run too.

It was a pleasure having you along for the ride. Look forward to seeing you on the next one which will likely be up around the newnes, wolgan valley area.

Thought you forgot about your RR
Overnighter sounds good but as I work every second saturday the dates will need to match my days off.

Here a pic of my tent the last time I camped up at newnes, just a bit close to the cliff. Great view though !

    G'day Mike,

At this stage I'm tied up on the 8th of Dec., will let you know if that changes.

Keep an eye open for other dates I might be free on though.

I'm hoping to get some rides in over the Christmas period as well, including some camping on the bike. (just did an overnighter to Crookwell via Bathurst with plenty of dirt roads involved, great weekend).

    Cheers,
    Ock. (aka Steve)

Well seeing as everyone else has posted RR's in this thread I might as well do the same.

It was a great day out and a very relaxing pace was the order of the day [the point is to reach the end......not the hospital :deal ].

The meet point at Maccas Richmond, I'd like to say all the others were late but the truth is I was so glad to actually be getting out on a group ride I misread the original post with the start time of 0830, I turned up at 0800 :huh

Roadside regroup on Mt. Lagoon Road.

The head of a bushwalking track down to the Colo River at Mt. Tootie- not a walk for the faint hearted based on the information on the sign.

Apparently Katoom's don't come from the factory with a side stand, if you own one always make sure you ride in an area with an abundance of solid trees to choose from. :lol3
    [IMG]

Stopped at a little "play ground" for those that were keen enough to try.

The challenge was taken by some.

A short vid of a couple of KTM's showing off, as they always seem to do- click on the picture.

    Another stop along the way.

And the view from there, don't slip off the edge. :eek1

One of the ferry crossings along the way.

Thanks to Karl for putting up the idea for a Newbie ride, and to Wayne for leading the way- all the while keeping in mind the skill level of the Newbs and setting an appropriate pace with suitable tracks and challenges not too extreme.

The company was good and the weather was ideal for the day.

I think I have more pics of the day but they are not uploaded to PB yet, when I get them done I will add more to this post.

Looking forward to doing another one at some point as there are a couple more new forum members looking to do some rides.

As you can see by the mix of bikes on this ride the day was suitable for a range of bikes and skills levels.

    :freaky

Good to see the latest photos. I am back from Asia this Friday but the 950 won't leave here until Christmas so I guess I will miss the next few rides too..... Unless I pinch the Funduro
