I definitely like the shifting better, for sure! And I was able to make some almost decent looking welds on the footpeg. Its in a good spot, and maybe I'll be faster, I dunno, but I'll be much happier shifting this box than the 4. I'm seriously debating taking the spare out there. Seems total overkill.

Working on Brake fabrication: Beater! This is partly for you :D

YOu should just be able to make out the footpeg height adjuster under here... HTats what the pointy bit at the bottom of hte back of the pedal protects.

We welded a nylock nut to the back of teh peg, and found a nice flathead machine screw to fit it. Then we welded a small bit of extra stuff on under the frame and the pedal pivot, to give the screw something to bear against, and voila, adjust screw to obtain desired pedal height.

Obviously offset the rear brake rod connection point as well. The pedal itself was too far out, and the inside of the pivot was too close to the running gear. So, we cut down a little L-iron and tack it up.

Got the connection point as close to the swingarm neutral line as possible.. and lo and behold, cant feel the brake pulsing anymore as the suspension moves :D

Oh! I almost forgot to mention: I put it on a truck to ship today to Baja! :clap :sad

Thats none other than Bill Conger. Dakarista, formerly of the Perofrmance Center, and now of the World- WHose also racing in the Baja Rally and is taking my bike out there for me, and picking me up at the airport :D

Through some unbelieveable quirk of convenience, in what can only be described as a sign fromthe universe that I am destined to go to this thing, he's providing virtual door-to-door service.

He's driving out with his GF, and we're meeting another guy whose bike he is also taking out, flying into San Diego on MOnday the 29th. sooooo... two weeks to go? :D

The plan is to do two days of practice in GLamis and the area, then get into Mexico on the thursday. Friday is tech/reg, and racing is Sat/Sun the 5-6 Oct. Home again home again on the red eye monday night.

Bright eyed and busytailed for work TUesday AM (not in amillion years will my head be in it)

WAIT HOLD ON A SECOND you know thats bill. SO now i'm confused about special guest? special guest at the rally? Hell I dunno, the entry list reads like a whos who in off road racing, and then there's me

Good luck on the Baha, good meeting you at the ISDT reunion ride. Man do you need a set of high pipes. I am very close to making SS high pipes like the ones on my R-75 replica. I will make a set of prototypes when I get back from Barbers in Oct.

    All the best,

    Bruce

...Baja will be right up your alley...with rocks...
Stay TF off the dunes at Glamis, that'll tear up a bike quicker than snot.
    But fun...though I hear it's complete Aholeville.

OK, so I ship out on Monday. A few more bicycle rides, and a nice weekend w family...

Here's my spot tracker, if anybody is interested

    http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=0tDqreCvmYQmS2m10Xyi9sNNi9udJcxqF

Its required equipment for safety on this thing.. dont know as if I'll be hitting it, or setting it to track, but maybe :D Its set to alert the org so I dont know if I'll drop them a line every five minutes. they might be busy :D

OK, I wish there were pics, but obviously, my bike is elsewhere, and I have been playing happy feet at work till now. NOthing to report other than I jammed up my elbow doing endos on the bicycle. stupid human tricks.

Thank you, yes it is definitely going that way.

SO the plan is to arrive in SAN tomorrow night and find a place to Hotel it, somehwere outside town. We'llend up in Glamis on Tuesday, and I dunno where on Wednesday, and we'll be hoteling it. Cheaply, presumably. I'll proably share a room with Angelo, and Bill will with his girlfriend.
SO! we'll get two days of practice in. It should be pretty cool :D I'll be dialing in my gas milage, and really trying to take it easy on the machine. I expect zero damage between now and the return trip. I really need there to be no damage.

ANybody in SO Cal ready to act as emergency parts supply?

I have clothes packed for a week or so, and am packing the moto gear and gadgets tomorrow am. There are a lot of gadgets to bring, like Spot, and a GPS, and the cameras ,and extra headlight, and yada yada

need to make sure hte credit cards are sety for travel in Cali and Mex.. (let the issuing corps know) I have passport in hand... need phone chargers, both 12v and 120v.. not taking computer, or big digi cam, just the gopro and ipod..

Also- dont forget the Hammer nutrition stuff, and a SHIT TON of water when you get htere, and also clear packing tape and a bunch of highlighters.

Toilet kit including razozr, shampoo, nail clipper, immodium, peptobismal, advil.

Wish I could find my Touratech buff. no idea where that got off to.

    Jason,

I'm in Tucson not in So Cal but it may be close enough to set up a relay for parts to you if you are desperate. I could make a run to the Az/Ca border if needed.

Lots of usable parts on my GSPD.

Good luck and have fun with it.

    Russ

I'll pm you my cell number.
