I've been wondering if it would be hard to put something together with a couple of leds on it.
The trailtech tach looks ok, but a number changing on a tiny display doesn't seem as effective as a couple of coloured leds in ones peripheral line of sight.

Also, making your own opens up a lot of options as to how and where to incorporate it in the existing dash bracket.

    Any thoughts?

I am looking for an alternative cockpit instrument for my G650X. The original Speedo is just to big for the planned Rally cockpit setup.

I looked at Acewell, Koso and Trailtech but they don't have a plug´n play adapter kit available which fits the G650X connectors.

Basically what I need is a Oil,Water,Fuel,Battery Voltage display. Speed and mileage is available on the Tripmaster/GPS.

Are you looking for actual readings or just idiot lights? For idiot lights you could use something like the touratech 01-030-0033-0 which has 7 LEDs. For gauge readings I think you would probably have to change the oil and temp sensors to match the gauge unit.

I have PDF of the wiring diagrams if you want to cut the harness apart. I once found the connector info but not sure I have it anymore for the 24 pin connector. You could make any adaptor to plug into the stock harness if you could find the mating connector.

Don't forget the turn signal flasher and hi-beam indicator are in the stock instrument housing if those are needed.

idiot lights like that would be fine. just some reference on the engine rpm and the redline would be fine.

what does that touratech led bar connect to?

Yes, I have brought back another zombie thread from the dead.

I would like to get a small LED light that I can wire up and which will light up when my radiator fan is ON.

    HAS ANYONE DONE THIS?

I have a REMUS exhaust which is so loud it blocks out all ambient noise within 1/4 mile so I cannot hear when my fan is on.

As for the above posts bragging that tachs and gauges are unnecessary...the metrics provided by tachs and gauges such as Voltage, Temp and Oil are invaluable for mechanical monitoring and diagnosis and provide early warning before catastrophic failure...there is a reason idiot lights found on our stock cluster are called "idiot" lights.

    Cheers

I am looking but for right now this Remus is what I have and its probably saving my life since I am in Northern WI and the roads are packed with deer and the roadsides with deer carcasses. This Remus scrares 'em back into the woods.

I appreciate your thoughtful contribution and I am hoping you might have some useful information on an LED light.

I agree with you on having useful information. In fact, it bothers me that I can't see the voltage, time and trip mileage at the same time on my X. As for as an LED, it seems all you would need to do is buy a cheap 12V LED off Amazon and directly wire it to the positive and ground leads of the fan itself. Trickiest part would be routing the wires and mounting the LED. I'm not sure I would want to open up the dash, but you could drill into the mount under the dash, or simply attach it to the cowl.

    Butters,

That is just the type of LED I was looking for and I agree it is better to mount it EXternal to the dash.

The XCh is new to me and I am just trying to learn its behaviors.

    Thanks !
