Hey FF neighbors... I'm down this way for the weekend and brought my 530 along to do some exploring. Anyone riding ANF this weekend? Figure it will be more fun/safer if someone else is around...

No real plans, mostly just looking to get some seat time in the sand. Thinking about checking out Tate's Hell ohv tomorrow afternoon and poking around the southern part of ANF if there's time. Maybe head up to the north side on sat or sun depending on what the fam does.

    Any advice? Recommendations?

I'm riding in from NYC in a couple weeks to ride w/ my bro and my son who both live there. Any recommendations within the Apalachicola Forest as far as routes? We're gonna do the Tally-Apa-PCB triangle one day, then try to visit the Forest or something else the next day so any recommended ride welcome please-

    Thanks,

    Kriv

I normally ride the street and will be riding Sunday @ Helen Guard Station meeting up with a group. I have a
2003 KLX 400. Been riding for 40 years, not dirt bike for a while though.

I hope it's not too chilly out and I'm looking forward to a fun ride and get used to what to bring & have etc

    See whom ever out there.................:clap

    Greg,
Good to have ya on board. That KLX/DRZ is a fine ride for ANF. Had one and liked it a lot!

Made it out to tates he'll ohv area this afternoon. Nice ride, weather was perfect and forest was great. Some nice camp sites so long as the weather is cool. Was hoping for some trials but still had a good time riding the roads. It was nice to get a chance to stretch the 530's legs... Don't get to do that off road much up north...

I think I'll head to the north side of ANF tomorrow and ride the ohv up there...

    Cheers!

Any of you FF's seen the new bridge placed in January by the Forest Service?

    Here's what it looks like
    [IMG]

    And here's where it is:

Buzz personage: this is the location of a BBTOR tag that either you or Joey set. There was an ancient bridge at this site, the pilings of which are still visible. The bridge is about 1.5 miles (est) E of the shooting range.

It took a lot of lobbying by the m/c community to make this happen. To my eye, it's the most positive sign of continued OHV use of the ANF for more than forty years.

Damn, I wish I'd seen your post earlier. I rode both Friday and Today with small group of folks. Drop me a PM when you come down again, we got hundreds of miles of OHV trails. I'm assuming that with a 530, you did meain trails, rather than trials. . . .

Bridge... I seem to recall the FSA saying something a year or so ago about putting a bridge there again. Looks like they went all out :nod

That spot was harder to get to than your map would lead someone to believe as I recall, but connects to sweet bits of woods that would have meant going all the way around to hit the other side.

Just a reminder about my 3rd annual Camp N Ride coming up March 8th-10

If you have heard stories about my singletrack but have never been over to ride it, You need to make it to this event. There is a very high chance that I will be clear cutting all my timber after this year's camp out. It will be a very long time before they are like what they are now. :cry:cry:cry

I'm currently making changes to the DS ride loops. So plan on seeing some new scenery along the way.

    Here is this year's thread

It's been a while since I've visited! Hunting season just got over last weekend so I need a new reason to spend money and time. Just catching up a little bit. Hope to get out and ride with some of you FF soon.

Also known as Lake Jackson :)

I need to get out there and check it out!

Hmmm, sounds like a nice way to spend a weekend.

One can now do a loop of single track beginning down around Helen guard, north to Aenon church road, thence wes and south all the way back. All but a few yards are whooped out sandy single track.

The bridge is no problemo to get to. From the south, it's easy, from the north, not so much since it uses the #10 trails east of Moore lake, etc. But that 690 would get you there in a jiff.

I can furnish a *.gpx file of the loop if anyone wants one.

The bridge, BTW, was built by Gator Bridges. An inasupicious name for a Tallahassee bridge.
