    Hello,
I'm going to ride the TAT next year.
The question is, how to navigate?
Is it good enough, just to navigate by the GPS and the waypoints, or is it recommended to buy also the roll charts and maps.
    Thank you
    Martin

Get Sam's tracks on GPS unless you want to add some spice and use the roll charts (old school but fun). The maps are very handy, even if you use GPS tracks, and I would recommend having them along. You may want to divert for fuel, food, a room, or repairs. The maps make that much easier to do.

Anybody around to have the TAT maps and GPS tracks left for second use?

Forget the roll charts. The maps are nice to have but take up some space. Google maps is your friend.

I think you are going to need both GPS routes and maps.
I did 1st 500 mikes from NC and found that they are many trail choices once you get into the parks and also that there really is not one route.
it seems like everyone who has "labeled " a TAT map has there own idea of what the route really is.
I think we used a combo of Sam route and some other, who is to say what best one is.

I've got the full set of Kevin's maps, cards, and the gps files on memory cards. I bought the whole package on June 16, 2017 and it was supposed to be the most up-to-date 2017 stuff but it was all dated 2016 and I had a number of places that had roads or bridges closed. That said, I rode from coast to coast using the GPS tracks 99% of the time and the maps/cards for planning gas and nightly stops. Worked out just fine for me in the end.

I'll ship the whole set to the first one who claims them...as long as I can find where I put them.

The plan is to ship the bike from Germany to Florida beginning of May. Exploring the South States and joining the TAT in Colorado in June.

If the group is open, and entertaining riders, I've been looking for a group for ages...
Camping about 1/2 the time for me... (bad back), but flexible...
KTM 690, 53, and in no hurry...

I also hope to ship my bike beginning of may. I'll probably ship from the Netherlands to somewhere in the south West.

But I'll probably be around Colorado in June. But I still have to work out my plans.
