I reckon the Vegeman just squeaked in on the change in the weather, well done, he's nailed it. Got a shift from 37c in the south to -6c mountains, now even snow in the low passes. Just sneaking through at the end of the TAT season, perfect timing. Veg-i is da man, he's smashing the TAT adventure and I can't wait for the endless stories and the endless bourbons to come. Go Bro hoo da man.

If it was snow yesterday, it was Pacific northwest rain, mist and cold. We left canyon ville and headed on the blue TAT 49. Hard to believe it would be the last part but knowing these routes and the forever deteriorating weather, it was also going to be an adventure ride.

We headed into the hills and the clouds and it was good to be on dirt tracks, yet like most days the route was going to change or provide challenges. As we crested amongst the clouds , a yellow forest gate loomed in the distance. It was locked but there was a bike track that went around it.... cool, and onwards we go.

It was only perhaps 30 minutes or so when we reached the roads other gate but this was a bit more of a challenge. Between the gate post and 2 big rocks there was a single track that we could get through but the bike good easily get hooked up if the right line wasn't followed. That's all fine yet its a bastard when there is a big hole immediately to the side. So easy to topple the bike in it. Would have bee far more worried if there wasnt two of us. I went first and Clint acted as a barrier and balance point while we bashed it through. Yay on the other (and correct side) now clints go... same process, all good. I really hate bypassing gates.

We continued but the weather got colder and wetter. 3C, no visibility, and just crap conditions. Clint had dressed for a summer ride and was coping but losing feeling in fingers, feet and face. I was cold but the heated grips , goggles, and klim gear made the difference. It was crap.

I made the call to drop down, get warm, get gas, food and make the next plan. We got to Powers and refuelled everything. Clint covered him self in trash bags and prepared to head back in. The guy at the cafe, strongly suggested that we don't go the way I wanted to (green) he said its rocky and been creating punctures, it's going to be slow, wet and cold...I'd strongly suggest you go to Agness... otherwise you'd be in the hills for hours.... hmm it was 1345 and already raining.

The last local I ignored saw me stuck in snow and back are same store 4 hours later... I discussed with Clint, his cold body and wet clothes wrapped in trash bags suggested it was the right call.

It was still miserable, cold and took hours to get to the coast. I'm so pleased we opted for that route. We came out and saw the sign for port orford. 27 miles north. Bugger that... the temp has just made it to 11C...gold beach is my tat end. Wow. I'm at the Pacific. 5200 miles... what a blast.

Time to go south, motel, warmth and beer. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Good deal making the coast intact. Sorry about the crap weather. But at least most of the trip was mostly enjoyable. Wouldn't be an adventure if everything went perfectly, eh? Cheers mate!

Congrats on making the coast. :clap
We spent a couple of days at Gold Beach. Cleaning riding gear and bike. Man the riding gear was " manky" by that stage. It's a nice ride South from there but we struck a lot of fog on the coast so went inland after a few days, to Lake Tahoe and Yosemite Nat Park. Might be a bit cool up there tho.

Great trip. Certainly a tough one. Enjoyed reading along. Those last few pics really looked cold and wet. (Not like the snowy ones didn't look cold. Lol)
