Take your 16 year old son (he on a Triumph Scrambler and me on a GS1100) on a camping trip 300 miles to a place with Hell in the name and what could possibly go wrong.

A link to a video he made for it. I don't know how to put the actual video here, just the link:

Rode through there last January while sick as could be headed from Apalachicola to Albany, GA. A 24 hour bug of some kind that had alternately freezing and burning up. Stomach about to turn inside out. Not the best way to ride a motorcycle. Was very glad I didn't have to stop. Went back through Tate's Hell with the family in July, headed to St. George's Island. Enjoyed the trip much better, even if I was in a cage.

Looks like you guys had a great trip.

It is a terrible place to camp in the summer. The heat, rain and mosquitos made it quite unpleasant. BUT it is a great memory with my son. I would like to continue on 319 to St George’s Island some time. It has been years since I have been through there.

My oldest son and I went on a kayak/camping trip a few years ago with our church. We stayed at Goose Pasture Campground. I recognized JR's Store in your video. Kayaked the Aucilla River and several tributaries.

Yeah, I got to be honest. We ate at super some place back on US 19 and breakfast was back towards The Springs. Supper was nice and breakfast was not hitting on much but the waitresses’ teenage daughter (out of school for summer and helping mom at the cafe) seemed to be of some interest to my son.
We almost camped at a very nice site on the Gulf but my son talked me into going into Tate’s Hell.
The camping was bad but we have a great memory. One we both will remember forever.
