Rolling back to Beijing, my second puncture right on the expressway, must have driven over a lane divider reflector or reflector bolt mounted into the asphalt as the hole was a perfect round, shaped like a bullet hole.
Had to use two sticky ropes to seal the puncture perfectly and secure. Now the real danger was standing in the right lane (emergency lane), in China crazy drivers use the emergency lane as a regular driving lane all the time..... TIC = This Is China!

The MTS arrived back in Shanghai by overnight truck shipment from Beijing, a few weeks of B+B (business and biking) went by in a flash (riding distance = 1x Pirelli Scorpion Trail 190/55ZR17 -rear tire-, approx. 6000k's extensively twisting the throttle).
The Italian Diva performed great and flawless. Ducati MTS = absolute brilliant bike and will get a lot of TLC incl. a decent wash and polish in the next few days thats for sure....

Had a blast around the greater Beijing region going for afternoon rides, overnight trips and full day cruises on the expressways (gets you out of the city and the touristy areas pretty quick, fully legal and very convenient) to the brilliant mountain roads and the beautiful grasslands.....
Enjoyed catching up with quite a few old mates and made a few interesting new contacts in the Beijing biker community and planning a longer stay up in Capital City later in the year once again.

ps: checked the Beijing traffic ticket website once again and as of today no traffic tickets listed to my bike with Shanghai "A" plate cruising all over Beijing incl. the downtown CBD areas like Guomao, Sanlintun, Chaoyang, etc....

Beijing rocks.... stay and ride safe!

On a last note, really hope the government powers refrain from turning the great mountain ranges and grasslands around greater Beijing region into the "big modern city dream".......

Makes me want to go ADV riding there. The last time I rode in China I was on a GL1800 for 2000km - not exactly the bike for the country, but fun nevertheless.

Had a new BMW1200GS water-cooled for a testing weekend from the official BMW distributer / importer in Shanghai.
Nice bike with a lot of new developments but would not trade in my Ducati MTS1200S.
The MTS rides like a revved up super-moto on steroids. It has some ADV / dirt bike feel but super-bike performance in the twisties and feel more comfortable on a lighter powerful bike like the MTS compared to the big heavy beemer.

Next test rides will be on the new BMW F800GS ADV and the BMW F700GS (don't like the cast wheels) once they are in the country.
Loved my old F800GS "Bumble Bee" and the new model can only be better but time will tell......

Thanks, all fine an well over here, went for a nice ride yesterday morning along the Great Canal passing through Liantang Town, in the Qingpu District of Shanghai over into Jiangsu province and back via Diashan Lake. Very nice and pleasant weather without the high humidity....

Yeah, missing the awesome riding around the greater Beijing region as the Shanghai region is as flat as a pool table. Might bring up the MTS little angry brother for Beijing city cruising next time. Talk soon....

That is incredible, awesome & amazing, all wrapped into a nice little package.

Time for you to do the same with the JH600s. We all suspect that you are gradually changing your preferred motorcycle diet, from Italian linquini to Chinese noodles!

Beijing beckons! Extra bikes also available for Texas Aggie, should he venture to visit the city with clean air, zero traffic & pretty girls!

Leaving the Jialing 600 thumper bikes alone, well ~ some upgrades for touring like alloy panniers, stainless steel rack, GPS, better chain / tyres but for easy maintenance and parts availability leaving them mostly stock. They are solid reliable daily runners and very happy with both versions I have right now = solo / sidecar, would not trade for some "plastic-fantastic" bikes like the CFmoto or whatever they are called right now.....

Love the Z50 Honda "Monkey Bikes" as I grew up with them, learned bike riding on them at the age of 3 and wish I still owned the two CZ100 my parents and grandparents had when I was a young lad...
Here is another of my custom Z50 bikes (sidecar) great shopping trolley and turns quite a few heads riding down the road in Shanghai.
