That pipe will probably work just fine, but, muffle much ? Doubtful.
I like the Yam 500s, I have a couple of XTs , one that I dug out of a dumpster and another I bought cheap and stuck at auction sans paperwork.

    appearance & performance pretty decent.
i had the same header with a supertrapp muffler, made for painful riding.
don't forget to rubber-mount it in 2 places

I started the bike up so I could get a feel for what it will sound like, I think it is just about perfect sounding. Noticeably quieter than my old pipe :)

    Cool bike!

    Brings back memories...

My dad had one when I was a kid. In the summers I used to hang out at the workshop where we stored our motorcycles. I usually rode mine all day, but occasionally would get the urge (and courage!) to ride something with a bit more power than a DT80 or XR100...

I couldn't reach the ground while sitting on it, so I would set a milk crate in the middle of the drive, roll the bike out to it, climb on and go. Of course, there was no stopping until I got back to the crate, but luckily enough, I never had an issue.

Man, that thing was an absolute animal compared to the little bikes I was used to riding! :clap

Awesome story! Since owning the bike I have run into a number of people who have some sort of connection to an XT/TT500.

Not much has changed with the bike, i've just been having fun with it as is. Took it up in the hills the other day:

Actually, I did find an XS650 frontend for pretty cheap and I started mocking up the FZR600 rotor with the R6 caliper:

Need to make a bracket and a spacer, paint the wheel and replace the fork seals and it should be ready to bolt on. Oh, and I need some new tires in a bad way. I am thinking some Shinko 705s.
