Glad to see he's out riding at 78 and that he's OK.

Looks like dad's a tough one. Glad he's ok.
Anyone know the condition of trail 82?

Last I got a report, it was fine. But it can change overnight. I need to go out and ride both 81 and 82 and check for clear.

Thanks. We'll have a few fuzzy beavers prowling the trails this weekend. We appreciate the work you do on the trails and providing this thread.

Trails 81 and 82 are clear, dry, and easy breezy riding.

Here's the potential folly of riding the single tracks by yourself. Recovery mode on Trail 82 this morning. No injuries, but had to leave the bike for a couple days while organizing help

Owner brought a winch along, that was fantastic idea. Luckily I brought my ATV tow strap, we needed it.

Wow! Reminds me of the time a friend and I had to leave our bikes overnight in the Panama jungle back in '97. My friend was concerned about theft. My reply was "look around. No one even knows we are here."

My neighbor was the company commander for the HHQ Company for the Infantry and he found some contract help for the next morning. Paid them $10/each to help pull the bikes up a slick wet hill. It's what we get for following cow trails. :lol3

I’m going to be in the area this weekend and have Friday afternoon to devote to some dual sporting.

What are some can’t miss roads/trails for a couple of Gumby’s on 50/50 tires?

Bikes are a dr650 and a klx250. We are staying in Robbinsville. Thanks in advance guys!

You looking to stay around Robbinsville or ride over to Tellico Plains and points past that?

We got a place in Robbinsville for the weekend. Outside of Friday the rest of the weekend will be road stuff because our one friend coming down is on a kawasaki Vaquero with his wife.

Looking for anything off pavement but not too extreme for Friday. Nothing too far from Robbinsville though because we won’t be getting down there until around 1-2pm.

Take Long Creek Rd south out of RVille, turns into Tatham Gap road (it's FS road) to Andrews. Take Beaver Creek north to FS 304 (which looks like a guy's driveway and wood pile). 304 goes to Little Snowbird, which you can then take back to Snowbird and Hwy 143.

We ended up not getting to do as much riding that Friday as we thought. Got a late start. We rode from Joyce Kilmer on fs81 I think it was to where it went under the cherohala. We then got on there and road on up to the Indian boundary lake.

I definitely want to plan a trip back next spring/summer once it dries out a bit.

Wandering around today and went down an unmaintained but open road off Miller Cemetary Rd. I ended up down at Tellico River right where that old bridge pier is in the middle of the river! A couple of small creek crossings on the way too, I think over John's Creek. So I've added the short little, but technical track to the .gpx file. I always figured there was an old road bed on the "other" side of the river, since there was a bridge there.

    As of 4 November 2017

Forest Road 64, Three Forks, in north Georgia is back open! Can now make the big loop (BlackBear) around the Cohutta Wilderness again. Only minor closures on FR16 (Holly Creek / Old CCC Camp) and FR630 (goes to an OHV area) are still shown. Repairs should be completed soon apparently.

Thanks for the update, Kyle! Any word on the FS road that goes from Buck Bald down to the Hiwassee River? We there back in the spring and found ribbon closure that se sent around and found there was a Landside that took part of the road. We were there yesterday and found the ribbon was replaced with a gate, so we turned back. As you know, that makes a nice loop when combined with Shuller Creek And Joe Brown Highway.

Any word from the FS about reopening it or at least have a sign that allows motos since there is plenty of room left for us?!

FR311 is still closed. I rode by the Hiwassee River end just a couple weeks ago and gate was still closed. Ocoee Ranger district doesn't seem in much of hurry to re-open it, if ever, that section isn't really needed and I won't be surprised if they don't fix it. You can try calling the Ocoee Ranger District, but as soon as you mention motorcycle, they will pretty much laugh you off, they've zero interest in providing access or recreation for motorcycles (street legal or not). Apparently we all need horses, because that is all the southern Cherokee NF districts are interested in.

Conasauga district in GA had to request about $1M from FHWA to re-open FS64, but then it's the only road to complete that area, but at least they were pro-active about it.

Made a little video of Johns Creek trail, from Miller Cemetery Road down to the Tellico River.
