A Tennessee State Park ride report with camping, cold weather, rain and self-cooked meals. It doesn't get any better than that.

Thanks. While it is still fun solo, having small meet-ups with other rider/campers could be a lot of fun as well. You should start a thread on something like that...wait, nevermind.:lol3

    Wow! What an awesome thread!!!

Being from Memphis, living in Memphis and having kids that have got me tied to Memphis for at least another 9 years... it's great to see all the places that are attainable from here.

I still get a big smile from seeing pictures online of places that I drive past everyday. Namely, that map of your Fayette Co loop. I might have to give that a go very soon! There is a guy I run with (literally, run.. like, on foot for fun), who invited me to go over to Mountain Home, AR this year with his group.

And in case you didn't hear, that rooster from the General Store in Millington died a few months ago.

If you ever pass some goober on a blue Ninja 250r (or hopefully a red white blue VFR soon), give a wave. :clap Usually around Sam Cooper Blvd or downtown/Midtown.

    Thanks! :thumb

Only bad part is you gotta do 75 to 100 miles to get to something decent. :snore

Good part is we can get to the base of the Ozarks fairly quick.
Might even see some of this on the way:

Very worthwhile area to visit. You'll never want to leave.
(I'll be going back up there with my badazz gang of suburban poindexters end of May :rofl)

Serves him right...cocky bastage. Did he end up on the lunch menu as a special by chance?

I have to admit, I don't get over on the bohemian side of Memphis much...but if I see you out here in the "Dirty'dova". I'll wave. :lol3

Funny you mention the dirty Dova. I'm at Chuck e Cheese right now with my kids.

I grew up in Collierville but have come to love that bohemian area. :-)

As for Mountain Home, I ran the Sylamore 50k a few months ago, and the start \finish was at the store and restaurant out by the mountain.

    Sent from my handheld-sending-thing...

Next time you head to the ferry off of 232. Right after you turn off 232 headed for the river look up on that hill to your right at the Southern Aire Motel and Restaurant. They have EXCELLENT food. Fantastic breakfasts, great buffets and some of the best beef you ever ate. The ladies ready with the tea pitchers at the ready are a bonus.

I'm making West TN look far better than it really is in person. :lol3 You live in motorcycle paradise!
However, If you really really have a hankerin' for' straight roads with little change in elevation, head on over. The humidity festival in July/August is a can't miss event. :rofl
All kidding aside, Middle TN, and the Ozarks are really the go-to places in these parts. Don't get me wrong, there are some good roads in West TN, but you have to travel long distances on the straight boring ones to find 'em.

I'm going to try that sir, thanks for the tip. :thumb

I'm with you Jeff, this looks like a good idea.

However, I may not wait and might take the wife there for a bite to eat.

Good idea. You need to get out of the house...I'm 125 miles away and can get you lost in your back yard. You need to be showing ME the countryside, not the other way 'round. :rofl

    In other news...

By show of hands, who else cuts up Gibson Explorer's and uses them as wheel chocks?

You are corect :(: I write this with my head held in somewhat shame. Actually I bet you can get a lot of the members here in west / middle TN and probably some of Arkansas lost in their back yards.

I will make every effort to do better and get out there and make some wrong turns and see what happens. I'll let you know if I run up on something good. If you don't hear from me I may have run up on something not so good. :eek1

HA! How random is that! Been a longtime lurker and recently joined up as I am looking to get back into riding. Took two years off to play with my car but have missed two wheels desperately! Anyway the random part is I have been thumbing thru tons of ride threads between looking at the for sale section and I come across a photo of equipment of the company I am employeed with! So I had to make this my first post!:1drinkAnyways great thread and thanks for the entertainment till I get back on two!

Greetings SYSCO™ Kid! I'm very flattered that you wasted that all important self defining first post in my thread...but alas, it's kinda like using your "one phone call" at the police station to request a song. :lol3

Anyway, I hope you get some wheels and post some interesting (and funny) ride reports from Nawth Jawga... :deal

    Wow, it's a small world.:norton

It's amazing how often people tend to wander through McKenzie and Paris.

Next time you're up this way, gimme a shout and we'll run to Southern Aire for Breakfast or Lunch. I love "The Little Dragon" (SR232).

Maybe stop in and see KJD19892 on the way. Rainman might want to join in too.

I'll PM you my cell number if you wish.

Sure thing. The boat ride is really what sells it.
You can PM me your cell, but I promise I'll forget it. :lol3
I usually post here in this thread when I get out so if anyone wants to get involved, they can.

    My apologies.
I didn't mean to sound flip, I work away from home quite a bit. I usually don't know if I'm heading out for sure till 9 or 10 the night before. Not a good time to be calling people. My usual 6 am departure might not be a good time to call either.
I can call, but you may be sorry.
    :lol3

You a "text" kinda guy, or an old school "I want to talk to a real person dammit" kinda guy?
