Doesn't work for me on Android.

Another inmate sent me an email this morning that indicated my placement on the map was not accurate with my tent space post. I can't verify that but I assume he wouldn't have contacted me if this wasn't accurate. It has me in Ohio, and I moved about a year ago to California.

With Google My Maps, you should be able to just 3dot menu button and download the KML. See the picture below.

For those with Google accounts, you can Copy the map to your Drive and download the app My Maps and access all the information. From My Maps you can navigate using your preferred GPS App.

Android user here. For me, I just open the map on mobile Chrome, bookmark it. While on the road, open Chrome browser, open the bookmark, click a pin. A small popup at the bottom of the screen appears. Touch it. It opens and shows more info.

There will be a link to the post of the person offering to host. I have Android default for links turned off, so once I touch the link, it gives me the option to open in Chrome, Tapatalk, or Android browser. IF a default app has been selected before, then it will open automagically.

By using a bookmark, it will always be what is the most current. I downloaded the KMZ file before, but that means I have to update my device or Google overlays everytime the map is updated.

The ONLY way I see this could be easier is if someone wrote/adapted an app similar WikiCamp specific for Advrider. Which would give each host the responsibility of updating their own info and would allow others to rate them.

I can't seem to find my post to delete it as I am moving from Ecuador so cannot host anyone which is a real bummer as I have met some great travelers through this.

The map links back to your post on ADV. The best way to communicate email or phone number is to list that information in your post.

I just checked my android phone and everything works fine.
I also posted my home to be a host but I don't see it on the map yet.
I guess the next time the map gets updated it will show up.

[QUOTE="Jamie Z, post: 31925156, member: 40719doesn't would like to ask others to try the map on your mobile device and report your experience. Does it work? Did it require some workarounds such as copying and pasting the URL into a browser?

I'd like to make sure the maps work as intended and that people can use them on the road.

I just tried it several times on my note2 on sprint.
When I hit the map it enlarges the map, hit a pin and the map shrinks back down to original showing both maps. No worky. I'm leaving in a week, NH to San Diego. Towing a small pop up camper behind my goldwing.
    How to get this working????

I have iOS. I can open the map, click on an icon & it shows the name of inmate. Clicking on that it opens but, nothing happens when I click on the URL to the inmates post. Can't copy it either.

Unfortunately, I'm not much help in the way of Google Maps support. It's simply the best option out there right now, and that's why we chose to use it. I can say from experience that on my own iOS devices, the maps used to work fine, then I had some trouble and had to load the map through a browser, and then one day they started working as expected again. They must change some backend stuff periodically.

My suggestion is to load the map through a mobile browser, and not the Google Maps app on your device...
