I bought a 2004 1150GS a little over a year ago, been riding about 1000 miles per month. What I love most about it is that I can ride 12 hours a day with occasional breaks and be comfortable. The main thing I don't like is that it feels heavy to me, but overall I love the bike.

Gotta say I loved test riding the F650GS today. The model I rode had the short windscreen which I'd change for a large one, and the seat was terrible. After only a 30 minute test ride I was feeling the seat. But I'm sure a Corbin or other after-market seat would fix that. I loved the smooth torque curve. As strange as it sounds, it felt faster than my 1150GS.

With the system cases, tax/tag/title, out the door it was a bit under $15k without doing any negotiating. As much as I love the bike I don't think I can justify spending that much (~$14k - ~$8k to sell my bike) just to "upgrade" from my 1150 to it. Too bad they only released the twin in 2008, even the used ones are fairly new and expensive still.

Give me another 12-18 months and I'll be a convert from GSpot to Beasts, see y'all then!

Thanks for that. I saw 2 listed for ~$8900 in the Flea Market. Seems like depreciation is pretty steep the first couple of years so next year I may be able to get a 2008 twin for a good value.

Also check out the IBMWR Marketplace
There are two low-mileage F650GS twins listed now.
One of them is near you in TN.

There was one even closer near Greensboro last week
on Craigslist, but it must have sold since the ad is gone.

Good used deals are out there and because of the BMW
3 year/36k mile warranty, all of them should still be covered.
And it won't cost you nearly $15K, either.

Thanks, I'm out shopping the used ones for a while.

Props to the guys at Capitol BMW here in Raleigh. If you haven't been to their new location it's worth the trip, they've done a nice job. They listened to what I was after and really knew their bikes. Makes me want to support them, wish they had a used one in stock that I could consider, I don't think I am up for the cost of a new one.

or..... just be one of the lucky ass Canadians who got them when they first came out in 2008 before they jacked up the MSRP about $1000

Although I do lose money on farkle 'investments'... thousands and counting. but very well worth it.
