While riding my mountain bike on the Swatara Rail Trail, I discovered that State Road is now closed to vehicular traffic. (At this time I do not have a GPS track to upload)
The TET comes south over Goldmine Road to 443 and then turns Right, following 443 and 72 south to where it can turn left and connect to State Road on the east side of the Swatara State Park. Then it connects to Swopes Valley Road. This is no longer possible.
When coming south on Goldmine Road, you need to turn Left onto 443. Upon reaching Suedburg, you can then turn Right onto Swopes Valley Road.
This new variation will take you past Twin Grove KOA which has a full service restaurant and is a good place to stop if you need some personal refueling.
First, thanks for the heads up. I spent a few minutes on research and could not definitively determine that the closure is permanent. It's simply under construction at the moment. I shot an email off, to the powers that be just a few minutes ago, asking for clarification.
That's a cool section, both figuratively and literally.
Received. thanks you!
Excited to check this out
Well I got one of the answers I like to give, "Kinda, sorta, maybe".
An excerpt from my inquiry:
And an excerpt from the response:
So, I need a track log. I have one that runs 443 on Northeast from Goldmine. I don't have one of Old Swapes running from the NE of Old State to 443, about a half mile. Anybody?
Got both files!
I got the pdf.
