I wanted to post this in the TWVT thread, but that one is "closed". However, if this belongs in Trip Planning, let me know.
I'm trucking my bike from NYC (Brooklyn) for the Shenandoah 500 (Oct 5/6), and I have to see some family in North Balt Friday evening- 5 days later. I was thinking I'd tool around on the TWVT from Monday-Thurs (I think Friday may just be a driving day). My questions to you (or, y'all):
1) Is it feasible to park my truck somewhere for 4 days, and expect it to be intact when I return? It's a cheap truck ($1500?), but I'd rather not have to replace it (plus, I have no theft ins.). I assume there won't be any parking garages out in the boonies, but maybe a Wal Mart that allows this?
2) I'd be riding without camping gear, so would it be possible to hotel/notel it? Or, will that require 50+ miles of out-of-the-way road riding each day?
3) If this sounds possible, where should I start, knowing I'm coming from the Shen500? I want to do as little asphalt as possible. I'd be driving my truck the the starting point, though.
My other option is not near as interesting, nor adventure-worthy... Plan B is to ride the Hatfield McCoy trails for 4 days. Although potentially fun, I was hoping to do a little more exploration.
Received the document. Thank you sir.
I don't really have a clue as to where to park, but a little networking at the 500 should solve that. Plenty of Motels are marked on the TWVT and the TET, I don't see that as an issue. You are just East of the TET, so just pick it up closest point to where you park. Take the TET South or North to the intersection with the TWVT. Run it and loop back into the TET. You should be able to get four days with that.
received the doc, thank you.
