Anyone near the Texas Creek area have intell on snow coverage? Not sure if they got any in this last storm? I assume it’s been dry up till then given the warm temps. Am thinking about heading down there today or over the weekend to ride some of the trail system (OHV not roads).

Might be some light snow in the shaded areas or towards the higher trails,
but should be good for the most part.
We got nothing here in the Springs from this latest system.

thats not much as I'm guessing it was pretty dry b/f yesterday but your right, it's been cold. I decided i didnt have time to make it down today anyhow (damn 4pm sunset) but may give it a shot tomorrow.

I bet Penrose will be most clear tomorrow on the main trails/roads except really shadowy areas.

I’d be down to ride either one tomorrow.

Up here the snow is melting but still covering everything that is undisturbed. It’s generally a few degrees warmer at the base of tx creek

I’ll post up in the morning and PM you if Im heading down... I’d say 50/50 based on what needs to be finished on the home front for Christmas.

If I do come down, I”ll shoot for late morning to mid-day to hit the warmest time of the day.

I looked at webcams today; snow all along 50 from Salida down to Canon City. Penrose was clear. We'll be there about 11.

I thought about going to Penrose today, but then thought about all the idiots heading down I-25 for the Holliday. So I chickened out. :yikes

I didn't make it either. Looks like we will have a new arrival for Christmas, about 5 weeks early. Second Grand Son.

Anyone have a current update on the Texas Creek conditions? I assume the northern area has some snow, and the southern facing areas are dry. But, are the north facing areas rideable? Or, are they so snow covered, or iced over, that riding the northern sections would be a wasted effort?

I know nuffin about Texas Creek but rode Divide/717 35 mile loop last Sat and was entirely snow free and perfect conditions.
Several frozen stream crossings were a minor challenge.

Would imagine Texas Creek entirely snow free but with icy crossings like Divide. Get out and ride!

Good to know that 717 area was clear. Heard that Captain Jacks is still rideable, if you don't mind ice over the water crossings.

Bull gulch is an ice river but passable and the main road just got graded today so it rides like garbage. Gotta work Saturday or I’d be out there with you and Dave.
