The Laurel Fork campout is under way this weekend april 28th -may 1st. I went to the annual campout the only two days I could, thursday and friday. Here are a few of my pictures.

I'm hoping everyone else will post up their pictures and ride reports as they get back sunday. The pictures I've seen so far at the camp ground were excellent, I hope they post them....hint, hint waynej.

Packed and ready to roll thursday morning...

This trail started out easy enough...

And then got a little spooky, considering I was riding alone, 5 hours from home, and on stock tires with 4500 miles
    [IMG]

Lots of this during the trip

Just wanted to say a great big thanks to ScottyP for all he did in making this shin-dig as great as it was. Also great big thanks to Iamchaz for the amazing food on Saturday night! I got some pics, mostly from the Saturday ride; I'll get them sorted out and post them in the next couple days.

I got to the CG Wednesday about 10 min before scottP.
I grabbed the small site on the east side of the river.

There was easy access to a good swimming hole, so Kato liked it too.

Later that afternoon, AdvWolf, goosecreek, and GSA PILOT arrived.

This was the CG wednesday evening.

"Walter" and family drove in. They had the Taj Mahal in the back of their truck.

They got the Taj up just in time to find out how waterproof it was. It rained buckets Wednesday night. Everyone's gear did its job and we were all dry the next morning.

The river rose about 3 feet overnight. :eek1

Day 2 photos in a couple of hours.

Get ready to meet the Ramp Rangers. :D

Alright, here are my pics. Friday morning, bikes are loaded and ready to go!

Just off 33, west of Harrisonburg, above Switzer lake. I was thinking of maybe going up dunkle hollow to flagpole and over into WVA that way.

First bit of gravel headed down. Hmm....I know we've gotten some rain, and it's done a little damage to the road. I hope the water crossings are passable.

First water crossing, and no such luck. :cry water was atleast 9 to 12 inches deep and man was it running fast! :eek1 Decided not to take the risk, so back up to 33 and westward to Brandywine, etc...

Getting closer! Going past the sinks of Gandy on the way to LF campground.

Ain't WVA just gorgeous! I've taken a million pictures from this same spot and I never tire of them.

Got to LF around 12:30pm or so, just in time for the rain to start! Yep, I'm in the right spot! Got the tent up, stowed away the gear, and walked around greeting those who were hanging out. Eventually I got tired of sitting there in the rain and my dad and I went out for a little ride. Interesting thing is that once we got a mile or two away the rain stoped! Made a nice little loop to Harman and back, and wouldn't you know it that about a mile or two from getting back to LF, we were back in the rain again! Atleast it wasn't pouring, just some on and off light sprinkles.

Saturday's ride pictures coming up next.

Top of Spruce Knob. The camera moved a bit in between the three shots, so the HDR isn't very good.

Blackwater Falls. The falls were really churning after all the rains.

The Saturday ride. There were atleast 3 different groups. Here's my dad with the Ural boys, set and ready to go. :ricky

Cat Herders doing their best to get ready.

And they're off! I went with the large Cat Herder group. Here's the front pack, early on, before reaching Elkins.

Back on pavement, getting in to Elkins.

We literally invade the gas station, and everyone tops off.

Turns out some people forgot the rule of thumb that if there is someone behind you, wait at turns until you see them in your mirrors. Luckily though they back pack found us at the gas station in Elkins as we were getting ready to take off again. From here, the large group split up into three groups I think. This turned out to be much better for everyone I think. Onwards we go! :pynd

A little stretching and nature call break.

Going up some interesting, but unfortunately dead ending trails. Thanks Pomo, this is exactly what I needed!

    The unfortunate dead end.

No worries, Pomo found us some more fun trails.

    Pullin' in to Durbin.

He so fast, I couldn't get a clear picture! :eek1

    Nittany showing good form.

Laurel Forks overlook, a little southwest of camp.

Got back to the campground around 3:30pm. ScottyP and Iamchaz had been busy prepping the feast! :dg And a feast it was! :bow

A pork tenderloin, stuffed with I believe: ramps, apples, and mushrooms, wrapped in bacon, and then covered with some of ScottyP's rub!

    ScottyP's bean soup.

The baby, part way through the cooking process.

In the mean time, some cats who couldn't make it earlier because of work finally arrived! :thumb

While we were waitting on the feast to finish cooking, Blooch helped entertain the masses by roping unexpecting bystanders into trying to get out of his rope trick.

I'll let you fill in some captions! :evil

Then as the day light was fading, HBN and his lady rolled back in to camp.

Followed by FOX on his pimp scooter.

Back to the all important food. The masses were starting to get restless from all the good smells coming from the cooks' tent. However the main course was not quite ready yet. So Iamchaz appeased us with some tasty venison bar-be-que!

Then there was also some chili simmering.

    Awwwwwww.......she's just about ready! :jump:drif

    More hanging out and waitting.

    Blooch snags some more victims.

Kawikazi watching intently. He's ready for another trying after failling the first time.

The main course feast! Stuffed pork tenderloin, ramp salad, coleslaw, and a strip of bacon! Yum!

    The prior mentioned chili.

    The bean soup.

Everyone having been fed and contented, we all proceeded to tell half truths and straight lies and consume some tasty beverages. :freaky Then out of the darkness, who should appear, but the man, the myth, the legend himself..........SKIPPII!

    The day was now complete.

A great big thank you once again to ScottyP for all the prep work he did in putting this thing together, to Iamchaz for the feast, to Pomo for leading the ride on Saturday, and to the rest of you FFs, because if you hadn't been there, it simply would not have been the same! It was great to see some old friends and make some new ones.

Y'all take care and we'll see you on the road! :ricky
