Well, my '06 Dakar is still sitting in the garage. Pretty much trouble free at 29,500 km except for having to replace a leaky radiator and a burned out fan. Sold my 1100GS some years back, pretty much trouble free except for that pesky hall sensor.

I have no brand loyalty but wanted a wet clutch and liquid cooling so I got the S10. Now that BMW has gotten on board in those departments, I'm watching closely to see how the new GS pans out over the next few years.

You'd think motorcycle.com would get it right but no...

    http://blog.motorcycle.com/2013/02/...recalled-in-canada-for-transmission-oil-leak/

"The 2013 BMW R1200GS is almost entirely new, including the transmission which is fully integrated into the engine casing, so there’s no worry about this issue affecting previous model years."

My old 1150GS discussing all this new "head shake hype" with two very flash watercooled brothers. (Not sure any of them know too much about it) :D

The number plate that Herbert makes mention of in his write up of the preparation day for the Oceania leg of the "One World. One R 1200 GS" tour. (What I especially liked was that he described my old 1150GS as "magnificent")

Totally wouldn't make sense to recall a motorcycle that's not even delivered.

ya, I'm wondering if the author of that motorcycle.com blog on the subject jumped to conclusions when he saw 2013 and assumed it referred to the new GS.

Nice video. But with the review they made a copy pasta from something published before. Not a very nice thing to do without giving a source...

Found it. It was first on Motorcycle.com

This could be the low-suspension setup when you think of it.

Hello There, you want news about new GS ?.. Well our ONE WORLD ONE GS is now bashing South Island New Zealand with our two new R1200GS. When you arrive in Chritschurch, you discover a city and a bunch of people with courage and who have a lot to complain about but yet never do. Their town has been destroyed couple years ago by a terrible 45 sec earthquake and the downtown is still a “down“ town today. Roadblock averywhere, buildings down, escavating machines everywhere and people working in containers.. Travelling is also about witnessing other people's life and to place relativity about our own ups and downs.. Kiwi people are bloddy brave and happy. Their city is down but they are still UP !..

We took the road to Reefton a small mining town where we met old timer miner folks. they took is to the heart of an abandonned open sky coal mine where we played with out GS...

Then I met this funny chap in the old pub. He looked like nothing but he was really interesting; And when he told me "I have also 3 choppers", I laugh. Yes, sure. Ok, if you have choppers, can we bet something ?.. We did, I won, here is the result : the first air born R1200GS flying for a 10 min spectacular ride above the mines around...

Well I can imagine already the comments coming on this picture... "the new GS can't jump above obstacle.. Without an helicopter you can't go nowhere with it... etc... Ok i'm ready guys.. Shoot ! :) :evil

It does seem odd. I'm thinking that they mean the current GSA, but even if it is the new LC, it appears that any bikes manufactured after the recall was issued would have the update anyway. Mine hasn't gone into build yet, so I'm not worried.:lol3

From what I'd heard a while back ... 2013 applies to two bikes - new WC GS, and current GSA modl of the old style. So the new WC GS will come as 2013. BMW had stopped production of current GS model some time in October 2012.

    Eric ze frog,

When you are in Arizona in March will you be staying primarily in the northern region? Curious as to what your route will be.

The 1150GS Adventure was built for two years after the R1200GS Standard (I refer to them as the Sport) came out. This would likely be the case with the GS versus GS Adv model as well, at least one year overlap. The RT and R versions will likely also be a year behind.
