I got it as well. I may go to this open house instead of my local dealer
I was busting your balls. Relax. Have a drink.
Combination of dirt/gravel roads and "paved" goaty backroads in the Santa Cruz mountains (the term 'paved' is used very loosely to describe some of those roads )
Honz @ Gateway BMW in St. Louis, MO, is running the Anakee 3's and is happy so far with there performance. He said the hook up decently in the gravel and might but them above the Tourance in that peformance realm.
I've always been very impressed with my Anakee 2's, so if the 3's are an improvement, bring it on
Who gives a rip? We have close to one billion tire threads here. . . let's talk about the GS.
Chill out, there's about 50 posts in this thread about the tyres. Bring something useful to talk about to the table then.
People getting the bike give a "rip". It is one of the OE tires and is a new tire offering so it is pertinent to the discussion.
Is there an agreement on the "best" tire for the new GS for mainly on-road usage?
I don't think you'll ever get an agreement on tires. I liked the Conti Road Attack 2 on my old GS. Worked great for me.
I think I'd go for the Metzeler if I could choose:
"Metzeler have launched their third-generation street enduro Tourance Next tyres, which are fitted to the new BMW R1200GS. Sizes are 120/70 R19 and 170/60 R17"
What's the best kind of blinker fluid for the new GS? Synthetic?
Honz would know.
BMW only recommends synthetic muffler fluid. Conventional mineral blinker fluid (available only at your dealer) is required to maintain the vehicle warranty.
You guys need a check-up from the neck-up
No other GS news, arriving at dealers, more recalls?
I just changed mine to fire blue at South sound. Apparently going in to production in the 13th week.
The tires are going to get ridden off it and if theres recalls when it gets here, then the dealer will be able to do them.
Whos got pictures? anything interesting?
Haven't heard an complaints about the fact that it isn't water for coolant rather something far more expensive http://www.evanscoolants.co.uk I give you waterless coolant, at a premium price of course
And you're telling me to chill out? Buddy, switch to decaf. It's not like I insulted your family.
Talking about tires for a bike that isn't even available yet is just conjecture--even more conjecture than talking about a bike with little real world experience.
We could talk about using urine in the LC in an emergency--that would be more interesting than another tire discussion.
Sure it is conjecture, but the tires are new and have just become available so it is still a valid data point of discussion. Not that I enjoy hearing people argue over which tire is best, but news has been slow the last several days.
