What about Cannuck expatriots???
That would indeed be nice with the black one.
My last 1200GS had both black and white:
Perhaps not all that pretty but it was different and different is sometimes fun
It really doesn't matter but maybe better to either be white or black?
That muffler, why?
That was the racing-system. I liked the sound for a while (i'm cured now ;o) and added power (cured the dip around 4500 also).
Indeed that muffler... why?
When I first heard it, I though I was gonna throw out (by the loudness).
I would get one if I could put it in my pocket when I am not feeding my ego. :)
I can't imagine someone suffer it in a trip.
Yes it was too loud indeed. It ended up in the shed (it still is there, so if anyone from holland or belgium wants one for a very sharp price )...
Checked one out in the flesh today. Liked the look of it a lot and as it happened there was the "old" 1200 next to it. The new version looks smaller (in a good way) and the visual sense of a bike more balanced was noticeable to my eye (YMMV - and who cares, really ).
The intake gubbins above helps and the drive shaft and associated engine cases look much more integrated. Most importantly I signed up for a test ride
What a coincidence, I did too. I also liked it in the flesh and thought the proportions looked right. I liked the swingarm and exhaust on the other side. When I sat on it, I thought it felt right. A nicer reach to the bars than my 1150 with barbacks. I would't mind taking a ride on one for some down the road dreaming.
So, my local dealer had a little "splash party" for the new WC GS.. They have a demo and one customer's bike in already. Neither have the LEDs - one's completely bare bones and one's got most everything but the LED. In any case, me and one of the shop guys got to talking and wondered about the fate of the non-WC 2013 GSs sitting on the floor. Will BMW continue to make the non-WC version, or phase it out in favor of the WC 2013? Hmmmmmm.......
I get to pick mine up tomorrow. Went over to see it getting its pre-delivery check. I scheduled the first service (600mi) for Tuesday morning.
Who would want to buy the pre-WC GS? I can't see that happen, of course they will sell if the price is right.
Even the ADV I can't see selling for full price now that the new is basically "waiting to hit the road".
Agree. The camhead GS is long out of production....done.
Congrats on your new ride. Looks awesome, nice wheels. How are those adjustable foot pegs working out for you? Does it work with the springs on the rubber in the foot pegs?
Side stand expansion plate, is it the one from Touratech? Does it get close to your boot when standing on the pegs? Maybe a photo!
Nice ride. Congrats. Looks like you have got the coding plug for the Enduro Pro mode installed. Is that right?
I too finally demoed one today. As most have said, it's pretty nice. I do think it needs a better windscreen though. The air that went over it was smooth, so they did something right, but even in the full up position there was a fair amount of air hitting me. At 33 degrees, I could have used some more wind blockage. It was a stark contrast to my current GS with a Givi Airflow on it.
I was waiting, like many, for a premium plus with the LED. However, they have a premium on the floor with a few extra accessories so the only thing it's missing is the LED and the bag mounts (which I don't want anyway). It's also $1100 cheaper than a premium plus and I could have it now vs waiting up to two months still. This got me to thinking, I seem to remember somebody posting a parts fiche to the new bike that had the LED headlight in it. I can't find it now. Seems to me I remember the light itself only being like $1000. Anyway have the parts fiche to the new bike handy?
Sorry. Disagree. I took one look at WC (water closet) GS at a local dealer today and nearly lost my lunch.
BMW has "jumped the shark".
I predict that the air/oil cooled bikes will retain the base following until such a time as their numbers have dwindled so as to make them as rare as an Indian Four.
The bike I saw today had as much appeal as an agricultural pumping station, and the motor looked reminiscent of one.
I'd go back to KTM if I was going to do another dual sport.
The thing I saw today was...impure...unholy.
I thought jumping the shark was a good thing, like the Fonz on waterskis. Could it get any cooler?
incidentally I rode the bike today. The "stripped" version with cruise and heated grips was good enough to reconsider the wait for the premium plus one that I have coming.
Happy Days ended soon after that episode, remember?
