Quite the opposite. I embrace sound technological innovation. "If they will buy it, then we will build it."

You can't blame the marque for maximizing its profits. In the bygone era, riders were not returning often enough to their dealers. They kept their machines much longer as well. The technology exists to build a highly reliable machine that will last 300,000 mi without bizarre, expensive failures. Not enough profit in that. Longevity, owner-serviceability, low cost of ownership are no longer driving new purchase decisions.

As consumers, it is we who are ultimately responsible for what is produced. If the marque is different today than yesteryear in its design philosophy, then that is only because they have zeroed in on their chosen market segment. I'd love to see a fresh, innovative, totally redesigned touring "GS" even if we had to leave the boxer behind. It may come when the market is ready.

BMW will be at only two International Motorcycle Shows this winter...it would be something to see a water cooled boxer debut in Los Angeles in December. Still won't matter much to me personally as I currently own the best BMW moto ever built!:clap

Maybe somebody should sneak into his garage and flash new firmware on his R1100...:freaky
Now that would be something, BMW updating our bikes whether we want it or not!

Making fun of an unreleased, unannounced, vaporware bike takes some of the fun out of the wintertime daydreaming. Puh.

If BMW shows it in Long Beach, I will go to the one in NY.
    Chances of that happening? Nil.

Not even close. The water cooled bike is reported to have the intake at the TOP of the cylinder, not the rear. The exhaust at the BOTTOM, not the front. That pic is of a standard '10~'12 model year camhead. The first picture was of an '04~'09 hexhead.

Justin, said a rumor about the bike being shown @ EICMA went around but it was untrue. BMW did not give any more details.

The current Boxer is so good, there's no real reason to press ahead I think.
Let Triumph, Honda etc. show their material an then later in 2012 we'll see the
1250LC Wazzerboxer, rolled out with all the necessary accessories.

I'm going to get one,I can't see how the watercooling will make it a lesser bike than the aircooled.
So what if it weighs 10lbs more?
Many riders could stand to loose 10 lbs any way (judgeing by information in other threads:lol3)
And if you get 20 or so hp more than today it easily compensates for the weight.
I as I wrote earlier am certainly going to buy one, I'm going to be the coolest guy around Starbucks and I'll wear my whale foreskin suit to top it off.
AND it's coming however much moaning there is on all the fora around the globe.
Maybe there'll be some legislation compelling each wasserboxer rider to have a guy walking in front waving a flag to warn the population of the progress coming:rofl

There are obviously many mistakes in that picture. Drivetrain on the wrong side - muffler in the wrong place. Also the windscreen isn't even close.
But some details are damn good. So i wonder who draw this picture...
