So I thought I'd try this kick start caper, since it seems to be an issue. Bike has not been started since I got it a month ago. So, fuel on,full choke, ignition and kill to start, gentle kick over to TDC, good kick, nogo, repeat, no go,third kick it burst into life, so looks like mine hasnt got an issue:clap
Time to start getting it ready for rego,no working lights on it, couple of hours tracing wires and finding where it had all been taped back into the loom and most works:D

    Why would you do this?:huh

Speedo doent work, something in the drive unit

And just for something completely different.....:evil

OK ,got the tank I need!:D Bear in mind that I am building this bike for A VERY SPECIFIC PURPOSE,that is, long distance tourer, where fuel capacity is No 1 concern. I wantr at least the ability to do 600ks

Custom solo seat was always going to happen,

    And just how much?

    [IMG]:D

I have 11 litres on the back built into the pannier support system, so 40 litres on board!:clap:clap

OK, just finished off the TTR from a rego point of view, all lights now function, chain guard, mirrors, horn etc. Once registered and I take it for a good run, it will be into the shed for the big makeover, it will be something different I can assure you!!:evil

This is our little adventure tourer, so far we've changed the tank to an Acerbis XR600 22ltr and cut down a screens for bikes DR screen to fit the front.

Yeah, mine's coming along as well!:D Another week in the shed, and should be ready for first shakedown ride before heading into the shed for the big makeover.
Rode it 60 ks today, first ride since rego, seems nOK, had bad vibes, but when I checked the engine mounts ,loose as!The Speedo cable fell off the speedo, but I ran it up to 110k and it sits on 85 to 90 easy ,which is all I require! I,m running 15/50 gearing. Gotta say, its one of the best steering bikes Ive ever ridden , so precise, gonna be fun in the dirt for sure:deal

    Sometimes its the little things...................:D
Had the seat off a few times, the bolts are a total pain in the arse, or were:D
I put a couple of studs into the seat base and made a couple of nuts I can tighten by hand, and just reach under to take off/put on, mucho bettererer!:clap

Some more "little things" that bugged me!
They must have had the work experience kid measure how long the sidestand needed to be! Ridiculously short! So, 50mm added
    [IMG]

Plus add some to the foot for better stability on soft ground
    [IMG]

    Now it sits right!:clap

Now for me, a trail stand is an essential part of the kit, easy to make and easy to use:deal
500mm of 13mm square tube, a 40mm 8mm pin welded on one end and a little foot on the other end
    [IMG]

Make a receiver up, I welded it to the footpeg bracket
    [IMG]

You just slip the trail stand into the receiver and push gently on the bike, gravity takes over and the stand drops down to the correct position, now ready to remove wheel:deal

When you are doing the rear wheel, I just put a rubber band around the front brake lever for security
    [IMG]

And for the front wheel, just drill a 8mm hole in your bashplate, same deal, have the bike in gear, push back on the bars, the stand swings down to the correct position, and front wheel out!
