    Hey guys,

Should see the SMT at dealers pretty soon. I'm aiming to have one myself. just as soon as the 800gs finds its new home. :D

Sometimes dealers only get a few days notice that a bike shipment is inbound and they don't all show up at the same time. I'm new to KTM but based on what I've heard so far, the street orders are placed at the first of the year and they arrive in the spring. I'm sure it varies some depending on your dealer's location. Our RC8 and Adventure models started showing up last week; stands to reason the SMTs are not far behind. The anticipation is almost unbearable!!!

Everyone I called said they are only getting 2. and said May is what the shippment papers said. No telling when they will actually arrive.
Umbearable!!!!! is an understatement. been looking at SMT's for over a year now, and placed an order in late Jan. I wish they would hurry.

Been calling every KTM dealer on the east coast of the US. Finally got a better answer then "its coming" Found out All KTM bikes have been held up by customs. Most 2012 models have been passed through because they were in port first. SMT's are still at port and are waiting for customs inspections. I was also told Customs have changed their rules for Australia thats what taking so long.
Not sure how true this is, but it kinda makes sense. So whenever they inspect we can expect them to ship to dealers.

Got it from streetfighterbydesign .com it's for a 990 superduke. Will fit smt. Bought it on amazon. Shipping took awhile. Guess they had to import it. You can get black or carbon fiber. I paid $180 shipped. Looks good, gonna put a coat if lacquer on it to better protect it.

Finally test rode one a few days ago. Chassis blew me away. So light and nimble. The 2 points i didn't like were the wind blast and, oddly enough, the motor, which felt "corked" for want of a better term.
I presume the touring screen helps with the former and how does the engine feel with a few thousand miles on it?

Just got off the phone with my dealer and he told me the 2012 smt are at the main wear house in Ohio. They are shipping to dealers. He should have them in a few days. I can't wait.

I put the Givi touring screen on my 2011. It deals pretty well with wind blast. I have about 3K on mine, I haven't really noticed too much change in the engine during that time. Not sure what you mean by "corked" though. Akros or other pipes might help with that.

It's just a really great all-around FUN bike.

Thanks for that. I think the test ride did spoil me. A few days later i rode the Honda XTourer and was disappointed with how unwieldy that bike is.

I feel like the motor loosened up a bit after a few thousand miles. The addition of some slip-ons which eliminated the CATs definitely helped loosen up the top end.

Beyond that, the motor just feels different than other twins to me. It just takes some getting used to if you're used to Ducatis...or BMWs or Guzzis. I think it's a fantastic motor.

Has anyone in the States gotten their 2012's yet? I only know of 1 guy in Ohio. I called a couple of dealers in Ohio and one said he can get 1 in a few days and the other said he has 1 in stock. I asked him about other States getting them and he said they should have them by now because he got his a few weeks ago, and they all ship at the same time.
I even called a few dealers in Pittsburg PA and they still dont have any. I wonder why they are the only ones who have them.

2009's going for about £6500 here; a helluva lot of bike for that money (if you can also carry the running costs).
