Doubt it, those guys have years of experience and are the arguably the best off road rally drivers in the world.

I still say two wheels until he beats Perfecthannsels record :deal

I think he is, and he knows he is...

Faria may have done his job and waited for him, but I do recall a few interviews where Faria said he was helped by Despres.

One that sticks in my memory is where he was saying Cyril had to pull him up and ask him what the hell he was doing, because he was going the wrong way.

Every year there seems to be someone who does well in the first half of the rallye, and then fall behind as the two KTMs start handing everyone's arses to them.

And until others learn to navigate as good as Coma and Despres, it will still be a two horse race.

And lets not forget that Cyril knows a butt load more about winning the Dakar than most of us, and I have every confidence that he will be putting himself in the best position to do so.

Or I'm wrong as usual and he retires to play professional quoits...

I just hope he stays on two wheels and on a bike and in a team capable of competing for the win. It's my personal opinion that rally is more interesting with Despres in the hunt. I wouldn't want to lose him to the non-competition of the current car field or the relative obscurity of the buggies.

I like him, but this year did seem kind of bland with no Coma, and no real competition...

So I also hope he gets a competitive two wheel ride.

I thin he's going to stay close to the Dakar but make what at all other appearances a drastic career change.

Full factory sherco effort, but that or Yamaha, Yamaha Motor France used to be the driving force behind the top yamaha's , could they be again?

Yamaha getting thier butt handed to them in MotoGP by Honda
Yamaha getting thier butt handed to them in Supercross by Kwaka
Yamaha getting thier butt handed to them in Enduro by Ktm
Yamaha getting thier butt handed to them in Motorcross by everyone

Enough reason to put some decent money together for media exposure, a hell of a lot cheaper than trying for any World Championship which will not give exposure to such a broad public.

My bet is a French Yamaha.

If they put enough support to his liking and a teammate he wants
and has the bike set up his way he would probably do it for less
than what he wanted out of ktm.
You don't win multiple dakars without being good, like him hate him doesnt matter he's good, so he has the talent and wants the support to make it happen. The fact of patriotism of doing it with a french team is a selling point i'm sure. He knows what it takes to win he wants support that will follow his lead, french or otherwise.

If he gets the big Yamaha France deal, what happens to Casteu?

I like the guy, for all his troubles he could still smile. Kinda like Kemal.

Just between us, I'd prefer more of his type over CD's.

Easier to like a person who isnt in the zone and who is expected to win (both by himself, sponsors, fan, etc). Just saying :thumb

When CDP isnt in the zone he comes across as pretty likeable...a tad "french" which is hard to swallow but likeable none the less

They've been knocking at the door of the top tier for quite a while. The team is experienced, and knows the logistical drill. They've had time to come to grips with the bike gremlins that hide out in the weeds. I could see how this makes sense to both parties. Yamaha gets a rider they know can fight at the pointy end of the field. CdP gets a ride that has the potential to fight for the lead.

With no Coma, I'd be surprised if a Yam/CdP combo couldn't win. With Coma...I'd give the edge to KTM in the 2014 Dakar. 2015 would probably be a dogfight.

I liked the Samsung sponsorship on the Sherco's last year.

A proper corporate sponsor would be good for the sport and I wouldn't be surprised to see that sponsor move to a larger then life (alien) rider.

Something for CDP? On a mutant BMW/Husky/Husa/Honda in Yammie blue?
