Hahaha, well said!
Who? Quinn once confirmed for me that he had a Speedbrain contract through 2014. Joan and Paulo are both HRC now but who else was there from SB?
Joan Pedrero will participate at the TransAnatolia Rally with an Alfer PKL 450 Rally, a bike built in Spain by Fernando Prades with a Ktm engine. There has been already someone that wrote about this project on ADV, anyway following are two articles that describe this bike and Juan Pedrero's situation better. Only problem is that one is in Italian and the other is in Catalan (did not find any better, sorry...):
The bike from MOTO.IT
The rider from RALLYRAID.CAT
On FB I also saw Laia Sanz was training around with JCR, will be with Honda she too at the Dakar?
Haha, do you recognize any similar designs ?
I think it comes from an older project, if I remember well also tested with Beta engines...
Yep, my first thought was it was the BF bike...
Same guy. Fernando Prades is also the "father" of the MI1. That's why...
Cheers Will, so that's one part of the KTM jigsaw over the next 3 years !
That's an awesome short.
At one point in the movie, I thought "ooohh, that's a crash" as he tipped the rallybike into the sand. Nope, that was executing the plan.
So excited for him in this next stage.
Cheers to you Too Old, I thought the 3 year deal was old news when I tweeted it last month!

When I saw that bike last month, I had hoped it would give me a glimpse of the new KTM. However Kurt's practice bike looked to be just that, cobbled together old bits. It even had a rear fuel cap with Despres' name on it! I'm really looking forward to seeing him on the new bike being as how it is rumoured to be lighter. I hope to ask if he has been on the new bike when I see him next month.
This is great news for racing in general. Having Kurt win a Dakar is going to result in more interest and hopefully cheaper products for the rest of us in the long run.
Ha ha, that piece of public news certainly slipped under my radar, I wonder when he talked about series if it meant the 6 rounds of the "world championship"?
Mind you it will be interesting to see what happens with Pharoans this year what with all the issues in Egypt - my company pulled all our staff out and haven't given the all clear to go back as yet.
Morocco is only a week or so after though and there is a lot of interest there!
I did a little Google Earth sleuthing to see if I could find where those cool dunes are that Caselli was riding in for that video. It just didn't look like any place I'd seen before. Sure enough I found it, a small 2 mile long dune in an off-beat place called Olancha, in California. See the video shot versus my Google Earth view at the same angle.
I even found that small strip of pavement where he parked his truck at 0:12 in the vid.
That was my understanding.
Nice work as usual there HogWild
HogWild--you're scary, dude!
Pharaons Rally moved to May 2014, just got official newsletter
Yep, political unrest cited as the main cause.
