Yip, same as the Dakar Spirit. Gone are the days where the riders all got lost in the desert, or when they all rocked up at the bivouac but the plane was delayed due to a sandstorm or something. The days where EVERYONE slept in the open in tents and there was not enough food.

Now its all about big teams, flashy gear and bikes, loots of moolas, fancy UV's, plush sleeping arrangements and plenty of spare engines.

    Sigh............

Oh, and don't forget, short stages. This year they are only doing little loops everywhere and half the distance. What kind of a test is that? The Heroes Legend has more spirit to be honest.

But I'm just being grumpy, so I will instead focus on the positives:

Maybe these guys can address this for us in their new rallies: :deal

    Hogwild - Diabolical Rally 2014
    Camelman - Amageza 2014
    Scotty - Baja 2014

    :clap :clap :clap :clap

Hopefully we will see these 3 rallies come into their own very soon and with improving technology we will soon be able to follow live helmet cam video of the guys out there.. can you imagine that?

I'm working on the software to take that live helmet cam feed, automatically map the course, and also send that feed live to the guy right behind so he knows what bumps he's about to hit! Then we can eliminate the actual desert and run the whole thing in a game booth with hydraulic simulated bumps. With so many expenses eliminated, the entry fee will be only $100. Then everyone who dreams of it can race Dakaromatic.

    :becca :lol3 :rofl

Dont forget to add that this would all take place in a baseball stadium filled with fireworks, big screen tv and loud PA system.

Thank goodness its less than 60 days until the Dakar.

And surprisingly, there's no Dakar 2014 thread to be seen in the forum yet !!!

    :lol3 Yeah... that's what I found amusing too... :lol3:clap

What will you be like on day 13 of the f5irehose, with 200+ posts to catch up on, no sleep for three days and 100 or more bleary, blood-shot eyed hours spent in front of multple monitors to cope with???! :huh:lol3

Mmm unless your are hyper well connected or very wealthy, they may look the same but as per my experience with the 660 and the 690 only the factory boys have the real trick bits.

Ps why 4 sets to test if the internals are the same? Otherwise it is just settings :evil. One sets may cost more than a 450rr
