    Hi Schattat

Who makes the jackets and are they brace compatible? Is it the same one Safariberg posted the pic of?

I have a new Knox Warrior and brace so would love a nice over jacket.

2012 is it not 450cc only? I have ridden a 660 before and can just imagine how good this must be.

Correct, hence the sale of the 690 and the building of a 450 for 2012.
Still a great bike for any other rally especially if you need it to be 'low maintenance'.

Barrier I knew that just hoped something changed and now Malles moto is allowed the 690's......:lol3. For the budget racer the 690 still looks better in my opinion.

There'll be a lot of 690RR's for sale from now on, and still all amateur/entry-level rallies will allow them. The Dakar is only one rally, albeit the most prestigious.

As for me, I don't even consider the 450 Rally. I simply like the 690RR too much, and expect it to be more user-friendly for non-racing adventure rides. A rev-intensive 450 is not my piece of cake anyway. I like the more powerful grunt of the 690 and leave the more nimble, rev-happy 450's to the racing lot. YMMV

I may be a dummy, but I joined that page and can't figure out how to get the Dakar countdown deal on my desktop.

I have been known to screw up my PC by putting all sorts of stuff on the Desktop. Simplicity is the key these days.

In 46 weeks you will be WFO and this all be a distant memory! Good luck with the mending until then.

In 46 weeks the discomfort you have at the moment will be just a memory when you are on the start of the 2012 Dakar, and you will be as excited as a kid in a lolly shop. :D

PS. Get your fill of junk food and ice cream now, because in 3 months you'll be in training again. :lol3

    Thanks guys... x

In the meantime, I was just nerding around the net, and found these photos from the 2010 edition - you might have seen them before, but they are worth another look - the Boston Globe seemed to collect some spectacular images together...

Always good shots on the Globe's Big Picture. Glad to see them do it again this year as well.

Forgot about that pic of the guy's leg from last year... :huh

Also forgot about the pic of Tamsin Jones and Patsy Quick near the bottom. World famous, those two :lol3
