Okay, I notice that some of the inmates have received the maps and I am trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. I have sent a PM and left a message above about dropping a PM. I may have missed something in the request process and I'm looking for a hand in getting this done correctly. Thanks in advance for your help!

I plan on hitting the trail in 2 weeks, starting in Damascus then going north for as far as I can get in about 2 days before turning around and riding back to NC. I'll be on a KTM 690 and my friend a Kawasaki 250 of some variety. Will post a report and pics when I'm back.

    Looking forward to it!

Bluethunder, krochity, buckshot99, myself and two others will be hitting the trails soon. We will hit some of the TWVT heading south from marlington WV and then picking up the BRT around New Castle. I'm running with a zumo 450 gps and it's not seeing the southwestern trails/roads in the Mount Rogers sections.

Does anyone have pictures of the trail's heading into Damascus from the Mt. Rogers area? How easy is it to navigate those sections, good road signs?

so, I have the Garmin 60CSx. I feel fairly proficient with it but am having trouble with loading this route/track file. I need ADVICE!

If I load the .gpx file on the unit and go to look at the tracks for some reason it only shows me a limited number of them...alphabetically. It shows like 21 tracks (I think)

How can I get it to show me ALL 95 (I think) of them? It seems like a memory issue. I currently have a US topo card in the unit. It has topo's of the entire US. And, I guess the US base map is loaded on the units memory itself. Do I need to remove the microSD card that has the topo's on it and install a larger BLANK microSD to allow the unit to get all 95 tracks?

Plus, when I load the file I only see tracks...There doesn;t appear to be a route. Is that correct?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Here is one of the better ride reports from the area: http://forum.dixiedualsport.com/post/Virginia-quotIron-Mountain-Trailquot-2849336

The trail follows the Iron Mountain trail to Skull's Gap. Here are more details on single track trails in the area from the USFS:

    The 60Csx only holds 20 saved tracks + 1 active log: http://www8.garmin.com/specs/GPSMAP60CSX0206.pdf

Getting all of the tracks on that unit wont happen. Newer units don't have this limitation. I use a 60 as well and would update the tracks at the end of each day.

No routes - that is normal - tracks are visual bread crumbs and don't have any inherent directions.

GPX2IMG is an option others have used - you can see the mention here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=703461

Also - just caught up on a couple of weeks of requests. Happy riding :wings

Pardon my ignorance but how would I update the tracks at the end of each day without my laptop? Is there another way/means of doing that?

I use a small laptop. Another option is joining tracks together and filtering points - at the sacrifice of detail.

Watch out for the horses. You'll be flying through there in a narrow, very tight trail in places and the rhododendron will be above your head. If you hit (crash) horses in there you are screwed, heck imagine the riders. I have seen a empty beer can in there every couple of miles. Hitting a drunk would be bad.
