Where do you ride down east?
Unfortunately, there isn't anyplace around here to ride dual sport that I'm aware of. Most of my riding is street for lunch and a few hundred miles. When I want to dual sport, I head west, or north, and usually with some friends from the rough road riding portion of the Motorcycle Tourer's Forum (MTF). A really good bunch of folks on all brands of bikes and something you might enjoy. I'm sending you a PM with a link to a four day dual sport ride we did this past year and you can get a feel for what I'm talking about. Mostly guys in your age group that enjoy getting out and having a good time.
Love the banter - glad to hear folks are still interested in the route. I need to make some changes and add some alternates. I hope to have a revised version out before the 4/1 opening of a lot of forest roads. Will respond to PMs requests for the route then .
I watched it. nice stuff and exactly what I was hoping for. What's the deal with the gates you have to go around and all the signs at that particularly slippery spot? gates make me nervous.
pm sent!!! thx
id like to go do a couple days of this if anyone is planning anything
I'm down, just say when.
I'm interested in doing a few days also
lets put something together!
Got a spot for a local of the North end of the route? I'm in Front Royal or "Funky Roy-L", depending on how long you stay out here.. But no matter how long you stay, the ridin up here is rocky fantastic.
Any ideas of a when and for how many days?
id like to do a couple days on the lower end
I'd love to do some of this. How do I get the gpx file?
Oh I did that but the post was so old I didn't know if he was still sending it out. I'll wait to hear back form him thanks.
A few posts back he said he's targeting the beginning of April to have some edits made. I'd love the tracks too as I'm trying to plan a trip to the area this year.
I got the tracks a year or so ago. Rode much of the BRT last summer and am planning to do iron mt. and surrounding area this summer. Should I get the spring 2014 edition of the tracks or are the changes too minor to worry about?
Thanks for all your work.
ps I would have pm'ed you about this but figure that others may have the same question.
Pm sent to you a few days ago.
A few of us Florida boys did the forest service roads of north Georgia, Carolina and East Tennessee for a week last March.
We'd like to give your route a go this March.
Can't wait to get out there and check more of it out. (I have a feeling I've done some of it.)
Just west of Elkhorn on the BRT yesterday
