Sounds awesome. I am especially curious about the conditions of the following sections:

    * Iron Mtn Trail 301 out of Damascus (this is 13 miles of singletrack)
    * Walker Mountain 206 over I-77 SE of Burkes Garden
    * Round Mountain 668 NE of Burkes Garden

Be prepared for fallen trees and big ruts :freaky. Take some photos too!

Those are ClutchCargos... I will let him answer.

We should hit Walker Mt 206 and Round Mt 668 but probably not Iron Mt trail.

It will be a quick ride up and back for me tomorrow (@ 300+ miles including dirt)... But my brother and another inmate will stay for a day or 2 more... They might hit the Iron Mt trail.

We will take photos but we might not see too much.... 80% chance of TStorms in Wytheville tomorrow.... :clap:clap

Yes they are Wolfman Expedition Dry Bags: http://www.wolfmanluggage.com/Expedition/expd_dry_saddle_bags.html
They are very well made and have plenty of ways to cinch, tighten and adjust. I've only hit puddles and light rain so far, but everything has remained dry. The top rolls down for weather seal, but that also is very forgiving if carrying larger loads.

Capacity is probably OK for most trips, but after having the massive caverns on street-type bikes, these make you consider carefully what luxuries you REALLY need to bring along.

I would be happy to send any one who PM's me with their email address the full Garmin GDB. The only thing I ask is that you post any scouting or riding you do of the BRT in this thread.

Just a friendly reminder to PM me your email address. I have gotten a lot of PM's without email addresses lately. :ricky

I will try to post up a ride report soon but we tested out a few of the southern roads last week.

Be aware that the Walker Mt road above Wytheville is fairly washed out. It is a 650cc or less road with a lot of rocks and such. We had a fun time on the road but we were on the right equipment. I would hate to have ended up there on a 1200GS or sumthin...

Just Follow Error's directions on bikes, routes, etc.. And you'll have a blast.

We jumped on the trail at Sugar Grove on Hwy 16 and rode up to Burkes Garden. All other roads were very good and scenic. We were actually in the area when all the Tornadoes went thru.....

Awesome... thanks for the recon. Post any pictures when you have a chance.

It sounds like you hit all the fire roads in the Mt Rogers Area. Did you all make it down Round Mountain out of Burkes Garden?

We did not hit the single track out of Damascus or the Round Mt rd out of Burkes.... I plan to do that another day on a day trip.....

I did 320 miles on a stock DR650 seat last Wednesday..... That was very comparable to 1000 miles on the Multistrada... :lol3

I could not convert your route to my Garmin Zumo so I just punched in routes to get us where we went. It provided for some comedy relief at a few locations. And a fine sampling of Virginia dirt for me and my brother. GOOD TIMES....
