I haven't been wasting time this winter..... I have a load of virtual projects started :lol3 . Including the re design of the front end of the MM. Re search is still on going but I might have "settled" on a direction to go in, more to follow................ I hope :D

I see that some folks on the thread have actually purchased passenger pegs for this bike. Just curious, has anyone actually ridden with a pillion on board? How'd that work out for ya?

    Hi,

i did book a MM yesterday. a 2008 unit from BMW staff, 3000 miles on it. To buy it I am going to quit my current renting on a F800GS, is a good bike but doesn´t give me much feeling on the road , even in the dirt, so i need a MM to push me up a bit. For the pure dirt i am keeping a XRR and a 525.

I am going to use it for many purposes, including some short commuting, urban , as many mountain roads as i can, and if i can, go to the Pirynees or even the Alps next summer to burn all those mythic mountain passes.

as a former HP2E owner, i wonder if someone has tried the pikes peak setup but on a street legal way.... i know there was a PP version for japan......

i mean on street version because those tires are not street legal, so maybe someone fitted another 17" tires.

well the MM has only 160mm suspension travel, but with a kindda tires like those sure it could handle some smooth fire roads if necesary. If they raced the Pikes Peak with that setup sure i can try some occasional easy dirt incursion......

    cheers :freaky

I've got them on mine, the bike came with them. I took "she who must be obeyed" out on the mm but they are quite high up. So they seem to be for short trips only. The KTM 950se rear pegs fit and are lower, so if it was a common thing riding 2 up it would be a worth while investment.

Congrats on the MM, I too came from the 800GS. It was the only bike I have ever bought that I felt I made a big mistake on. Some very good things about it but in the end it doesn't gel into either an off road or on road bike very well. The Mega on the other hand just makes me :lol3 everytime I go out.
I am always looking at the new toys comming out from Ducati etc, but honestly am not tempted to change, I plan on keeping this for a long time. The multistrada is tempting but I really like the MM for its simple un molested ride.
Given the rareity of these bikes we now have 3 mega's in quite close proximity with you, me and Bruno. Imagine 3 mega's tearing up the mountain roads.... :eek1 :freaky

Yes the f800gs is rational but not passional as the MM is.

Nice to hear there are 2 more MM at Portugal, we all are Iberican neighbours anyway. I just know one guy at Madrid that has one, and is my BMW salesman that after having it as a company bike, he decided to bought it for himself, ad the guy uses to ride a GSXR on a track on the weekends...........

That a RR guy has a RR bike for the track and a MM for daily and road use........makes me think this MM has something......

The day i drove his MM , i felt like the engine was "angry" in comparison with the HP2 E i had then. Such a a torque sensation , such a sound, such brakes.....

In a few days i´ll get rid of the F800GS and i´ll god will have the MM.

I just joined the club. Got some work to do, windshield, heated grips, steering damper and dropped pegs. Can't really ride til May, so there's some time. I tried to post an image, but all I could do was a link to a new photobucket account. Any help would be appreciated. I tried going to the thread about this topic, but there are 103 pages.
