    I know Mike.
By the time we realized where we were we were short on time - I had a meeting to get to.
    Next time.

On one of the best roads in Eastern Ontario, the 511, is found this pretty little school. It's in Hopetown.

    Found five more schools today:

Schipaville - The "Bike Guy" lives here.

Bishop's Mills - The owner came out of the house across the street and told us all about this place; built in 1860, it was probably no longer used as a school after about 1900.

Wow, stunning photo, how very, well, prairie like. Coincedentally, I'm reading Elizabeth Hay's new book 'Alone in the Classroom' which is partly set in a schoolhouse in Saskatchewan, so I'll picture this one as the setting. Thanks for posting!

I didn't know all the 'rules' before I snapped this one, so there is no bike or history, but it's a cool old school house just the same. The pic was taken on Day 2 of the BCBTR, so it's got to be somewhere between 100 Mile House and Merritt, BC! :D

This summer I'm riding the DR back to the Kootenay's where I'll get 'official' pics of the old school house that I actually went to! (and no, I'm not *that* old! :lol3)

Not too many rules here really, its often impossible to find the history and sometimes its hard to be absolutely certain a building is a school. BTW, I can't see the photo but that might just be the browser at work.

Here's another school we spotted while out on a short ride on a stinking hot day... it's in Easton's Corners, Ontario.

    Bethel School.

Sorry I couldn't get a better picture but I didn't want to walk into the yard. If I remember correctly, the date on the plaque was 1905.

Directly across the road is this little gem:

You guessed it, the Bethel Church. I included it as there must have been Sunday School :evil . They are located on the Bethel Church Road near Minden, ON. The 2015 Pan Am Games white water canoe and kayak events will take place about a km. down the road at the Minden White Water Reserve. If you're ever in the area there are trails along the river for viewing the white water activities, several nice spots to have a picnic and a small beach.

Here's one not many here have likely seen. It's no longer a school, but some kind of missionary retreat. It's where I went to elementary school 50+ years ago, in McKenzie Island in NW Ont. My Dad was the teacher. The backstop was wood back then, and I don't remember all those nice windows. I got smashed into the backstop when I was about 7, and broke my nose. Softball was a rough sport up there :lol3:lol3

Everything in town was wood frame, and houses burned down regularly in the winter. Ours was one of the few that survived the chimney fires, and it's still there to this day.
